Earth Savers UNESCO Trip |

One of our main initiatives, titled Mind Movers, aims to provide fun and thought-provoking activities that will make science popular and interesting to children focusing on science experiments that will create lasting impressions on the minds of children and individuals. As a divergence from what the National Department of Education aims to promote through their curriculum, our project is more hands on to have a better grasp of the content.
The typical structure of a service trip is as follows: Introduction of the project, activity and speakers ( Duration 20-30 minutes) Introduction of a scientific concept or instructions for experiment through multimedia presentation. This include short video clips, music playing in the background, Prezi, posters being passed around, the presenter showing and explaining the scientific concept, slides being shown on the projector screen. (Duration 10-20 minutes). Individual hands-on experiment during which children are given materials so that they can test a concept, create or improve a product (Duration 100-120 minutes) Though all our resources are environmentally friendly, occasionally, we also introduce sustainability education in there too. Inspiration is taken from the Junior Eco Engineering Academy's activities, such as sustainable city mapping, filtration systems, and playing around with SDGs in general. The kids there, ranging from the 5th to the 6th grade were very engaged and many said they werent exposed to such content previously. Many of them have to skip leisure activities in the weekend voluntarily to attend this Mind Movers project and we always see the same recurring faces back, which shows an extent of the outreach we have obtained. Though we only work in one school, the Alabang Elementary School (AES) so far, we're planning to extend such to other provinces as well. National Geographic is filming a documentary about plastic pollution in the Philippines and our education program (Mind Movers) is to be a part of it. Let me know of any ideas of what to teach which will be featured in this documentary. |

Congratulations Adam for your UNESCO trip.
Your activities are really fascinating me towards more environment. This was similar to my visit to International Mountain Museum. I had also posted a report about that hope you has read.
Do keep reading other Ambassadors' post and leave sweet and encouraging comments. They do encourage the fellow ambassadors alot and keeps up to work much more harder.
