soil is the base for almost every form of life on earth. In an urban concrete area they regard soil as a dirt but for agriculturist soil is gold that helps him grow food and feed the hungry world. Different people have their own form of defination for soil. soil is both living and non living body..It living because it is home to several microorganism that benifit the soil.soil may be: 1.sand 2.slit or 3.clay we need to take care of our soil.we need to remove unnecessary weed from the soil,we need to maintin the cover crop in bare land.in deserted area we need to do the plantation.while doing the cultural operation we shouldnot disturb the soil much.Healthy soil means healthy crops and in turn healthy us.I humbly request you all to love the soil.plant something in your kitchen garden on roof top and grow something healthy to eat yourself. haphazard use of chemical fertilizer degrade the quality of soil and kill its microbes. organic fertilizer like farmyard manure,green manure,vermicompostcover crop add essential nutrients to soil and enrich soil with all essential macro and micro nutrients. soil stucture is also made nice and cation exchange capacity of soil is improved, and water absorption is also enhanced by use of organic manures and fertilizers.Today fruits and vegetables are drenched in chemicals.they donot wait for waiting period and supply to market. proper irrigation along with application of manure of organic soil is need of today.. As an agriculture student ,I love being in the field.I love the smell of soil.some day I will develop technique to contribute to reduce global food insecurity.growing more food from limited space to feed those hungry 900 million people is challenge of today.

Hello Dibya, I can see how much deep contemplation you have made so far and felt about soil itself. Though it literally 'just exists' anywhere around us except from maritime area, we usually forget about the importance. Providing food and edible stuffs for our meal, supper and snack in our home and even sometimes providing land for our home to build it up.
Reminding of ourselves about importance of soil will make us remember what we have omitted in our daily lives :)

This is something our society really needs and I am truly glad to hear such great determination from you!
It is an amazing thing that what we've learned could be used to save this environment.

Compliments of the new year!

So is the most precious and a resource rich entity. Though non-living, it has the capacity to bring life and house organisms. Soil has many forms, as you have mentioned. But is has suffered under the hands of human practices.

It is imperative that one becomes sensitive to the effects they contribute to soil, whether directly or indirectly. I really like the ideas of composting and using farm manure to combat soil damage because that is the only way we can start reviving the soil structure and organic Properties.

I like the idea that you posted in your report and I sure will look for a pot to plant a seedling.
