Under the Dresden Declaration on Biosphere Reserves and Climate Change, Biosphere Reserves are an effective instrument for mitigating climate change and serve as models for adaptation to the impacts of this change. Biosphere Reserves as model areas for sustainable development are of particular importance for shaping a new understanding of the relationship between environmental conservation, sustainable development, and climate change. Taking into account the significant role of Biosphere Reserves in combating the effects of climate change scientists have developed the concept of ecosystem-based adaptation: an adaptation to a changed climate following the principles of nature. This concept began to be implemented in Ukraine in early September 2018 as part of the German project "Ecosystem Based Climate Adaptation." For this project, three biosphere reserves were selected on the territory of Ukraine: Biosphere reserves Desna, Roztochya and West Polesie. The project will inform about climate change and its impact and support the population in developing adaptation strategies. The project targets locals, land users and managers of biosphere reserves as well as decision-makers at the regional and national level. It is important to note that the purpose of the project is to consolidate the concept of ecosystem adaptation to climate change, which is consistent with the principles of nature, but to demonstrate it in practice. I take part in this project as a third party as an employee of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine. Besides, within the framework of the project, I carry out my research on the implementation of the concept of biosphere reserves in Ukrainian legislation. The preliminary results of the research on this issue will be presented at the twentieth Student Conference on Conservation Science in Cambridge, 26-28 March 2019. Lastly, I want to add that I sincerely believe in the idea of biosphere reserves and their positive impact on climate change and sustainable development in general. As one of the participants of "2017 MAB Youth Forum" said: ¡°Biosphere reserves are our future, let¡¯s develop it!¡±
Hope to see some of you, guys, in Cambridge this year! |

Hello Anna, I do remember your past report concerning old forest that has high level of biodiversity and ecosystem values. This report seems to cover up how bioshpere reserves can develop from modern forests despite of threats from climate change and global warming.
Thanks for your report!

Hi Anna!
This project is quite interesting. Which grab my interest is the statement ¡°Biosphere reserves are our future, let??s develop it!¡± It may be a simple expression, but protecting environment was always chained to 'Not Acting.' Simple is the hardest. :( We need more regulation and more participants. Thank you for doing constant exertions together!
Thank you for sharing.

Hello Anna
Climate Change is a burning problem of world and immediate adaption and mitigation are required for it to prevent ourself from much harsh condition in near future. Biosphere reserves are indeed a good adaptation measures against climate change. Glad to hear that an initiative are taken in Ukraine.
I am much glad you are also taking part on these. I would like to wish you for successful research and good paper presentation. I too recently conducted an research on Effects of Seed Priming on germination Parameters of maize in drought condition. This results will be helpful for the germination of seed during the irregular rainfall and drought.
Thank you for your beautiful report. Keep writing more.
Best wishes from Nepal.
Green Cheers from the land of Himalayas.
Yours,
Kushal Naharki

Hy Eric,
Thanks for sharing such useful information.
and rightly said, biosphere reservs our future.
The article was nicely presented and pleasing to read.
Hope to read more reports from you.

Hey Anna!
I trust you are well. I like the idea in general. Charles Darwin has mentioned before in his law of natural selection that, a species would do two things: 1, it would either adapt or it would die out as a result of not adapting to the new found environment.
I believe that if animals and plants can evolve, so can the environment as a whole due to the external factor climate change. If possible, could you please write a follow up report this project, it is insightful and shows Groundbreaking possibilies in environmental adaptation.
I admire your work being done in the Ministry, keep up the good work Anna!
I really enjoined reading your report!
Yours sincerely
Rosa Domingos
