Policies I would like to establish for my nation to mitigate Climate Change

In my opinion, Clean Energy has the power to transform societies, the environment, and even to improve and save lives. For developing Nations as Mexico, the need for reliable and affordable energy is fundamental. Even though Mexico cover its energy needs, only 15.3% of the electricity produced in Mexico comes from Renewable sources.

Worldwide Electricity and Heat production represents 21% of Global greenhouse gas emissions, and in Mexico, it represents approximately 40% of the CO2 emissions. Mexico is still a country that depends on fossil fuels to cover its energy needs. Even though if Mexico ratified and formally joined the Paris Agreement. It is still far from meeting the decarbonization and climate mitigation goals set out in the Paris Agreement. Indeed, research organizations say that probably Mexico will not meet its ¡°Insufficient¡± emissions reduction targets for 2020 and 2030 and will need to implement additional policies, and reverse direction on coal to do so.

If I were Mexico¡¯s Environment Secretary, I would promote the reforms to the General Law on Climate Change (LGCC), in order to prioritize the use and funding of Clean Energy Technologies as well as the Environmental Education on Public Schools.  My objective would be to contribute to the global target of stabilizing the greenhouse gas emissions concentration on the planet. I would also take actions to reform The Energy Law to secure The clean energy transition. As a Chemical Engineering student, I aware of the great potential that green energy technologies have on mitigating our carbon footprint. In the future, I would like to work within Mexico¡¯s government and work to impact people¡¯s lives in a good way.

It is a fact that Fossil Fuels will not last forever. Indeed, researchers at Stanford University estimate that in 113 years all the coal will be gone. Natural gas will disappear in 52 years, and crude oil will mostly disappear in 50 years. Therefore, Nations should be prepared for this date and arrange policies promoting the energy transition.

    Hello Karen

Climate change is a issue of global concern and I am glad that you selected Policies that you would like to establish for your nation to mitigate Climate Change. The policies related to climate change must focus on adaptation and mitigation methods of climate change. It is necessary for every nation to establish the policy related to climate change.

Thank you for your beautiful report.
    Keep writing beautiful report.
Green Cheers from Nepal :) :)

    Yours,
