The most impressive movie I have seen about the environment is ¡°Wall-e¡±. If you haven¡¯t seen it, I don¡¯t recommend reading this, because there will be spoilers ahead. The plot is basically an old robot, named Wall-e, is a garbage collecting robot that has been cleaning the surface of lifeless earth for 700 years or so. The robot is completely fascinated by old, largely useless things. Wall-e even has a massive collection of stuff like Christmas lights, disks, light bulbs, trash can lids, garden gnomes and old lighters. Wall-e also loves rewatching the same old cassette tape. On the planet, due to the insane amount of pollution, all forms of life have died, except cockroaches. That also includes plants. But one day, when Wall-e was collecting and cleaning like he usually does, he stumbled upon a small green sprout. Shortly after, a new robot called Eve, programmed to search for life on a planet, arrived on Earth. Initially Eve was quite hostile and even dangerous, but after cheering her up, Wall-e and Eve became friends. He showed her all his treasures and among them - a living plant. Eve immediately hid the plant in a small compartment and sent a message to the ship that she found a trace of green life. When transport arrived to take Eve back, Wall-e decides to go with her.The transport with Eve and Wall-e arrive on a grand ship, where the remainder of the human species have been living. The people on the ship, live in complete comfort, so much so, that all of them have almost no muscles or bones whatsoever. But the old robot, trying to save his new friend from the machinations of the ship's autopilot, gave humanity the opportunity to return to abandoned earth and revive life.
I think the most important lesson to take away from the movie is: you can¡¯t run away from your problems. The humans after polluting the world so badly there were literally mountains of garbage of the skyscrapers' zise, decided they didn¡¯t want to deal with all their trash, so they left the planet to robots, to do everything for them and went on a cruise. Unsurprisingly, the robots couldn¡¯t handle so much work and most of them broke down. The good thing, is that in the end, when people came back to earth, they were determined and willing to save the planet and try to make everything better. |
