SUBJECT:CLIMATE CHANGE INFLUENCES INTRA MPUMALNGA REGION RESOURCES

Uneven rainfall precipitation, persistent heatwaves conditions, unsound & unpredictable weather environments serves as practical evidence upon environmental climate change features  endured and succumbed off by the Mpumalanga province region, over the past years.

Dates back then 2015: drought, dominant soil erosion and dust storms events, uneven rainfall distribution amongst a few, are prevalent attributes aligned par climate change phenomena until presently experienced and exposed to.

At present moment of duration abnormal, excessive heat in weather conditions throughout the summer season are thus felt and reported being unbearable to the extent of posing a rampant hard-on-effect upon various natural resources aswel.

Concerned Mpumalanga municipalities: Umjindi, Mbombela, Emakhazeni and Emalahleni post extensive investigations and analysis, intra a report have noted that dam percentages persisted devaluing in water levels terms mainly due to a rise in heat conditions. This, a global warming result has established a drought environment which scourged the alienation of both above and below water surface areas  which constitute to underground water tables, wetlands, rivers and stream runoffs.

The depletion of such exacerbated the norms of fresh water harvest and collection. The effect could be realised upon dam run-off catchments drying out and losing their actual systematic catchment route sequences. Furthermore, uneven rainfall distribution had influence upon other natural water reserves reliant upon a larger dam catchment scheme circumference feeing into.

Life cycle and natural habitats for both wild and insects had too gained a direct effect. It was to pledge environmental understanding that depending species. specie migration surviving upon the environmental conditions succumbed unto the effect of specie migration due to inadaptability and adoptability of environments due to global warming and climate change confinements.

Gusty wind storms and surges within land areas too, set hard effect- having negative impact upon specie survival and longevity in lifespan. Not only such but domestic and commercial farming practices had been disturbed at sense that subsistence and commercial farming performances had accounted on negative trajectory in due productivity and efficiency growth and nutritional gain in survival. Chemical contained modification farming techniques and equipment¡¯s were used, later having found to heavily intoxicate ground soil and produce negatively. Seasonal produce suffered a decline in development and production quality and quantity.

Farmers, those comprising mealies production, vouched out to resorting upon the farming techniques required due in response to abate the plight faced-of as harmful insect species erupted and elongated in dissemination- killing plantation and vegetation forms. Soil had become infertile and immature in neutrality forms and norms. Soil layers re-assembling in this regard had also become unevenly balanced at a sense that the geomorphological aspect had repositioned and unequal at none support grant to grow and produce enriched produce.

In event to mitigate such conundrum, the intervention of local and provincial government concomitant national government provided strategic and methodological assistance to averting the ongoing risk further effects. In doing so, a prognosis research had been conducted included a sentimental mutual view which resulted for financial and practical assistance investigation granting aid.

The national Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS), Department of Environmental Affairs (DoEA), provincial Department of Agriculture, Rural, Land Environment Development (Dardlea) issued  provided a comprehensive assistance approach by performing the following:

¡¤         Establishing new and maintaining old water reserves;

¡¤         Introducing eco-friendly farming practices;

¡¤         Encouraged systematic farming methods and techniques;

¡¤         Fostered climate-friendly non-risk bearing actions to biodiversity and ecosystems and;

¡¤         Established provincial consultative-engagement framework and charter for environmental sustainability.

In the hope for achievement and realisation of an environmental friendly province, local governments (municipalities) and joint district municipalities addressed the dissemination and regulation of information and strategic cohesive collaboration and cooperation. These positioned as on in many strides formed at continuous basis to actualise and contextualise betterment environmental stability and opportunity. Local and district municipalities adopted the following principles:

¡¤         Established a bill system to frontier local regulatory framework and consensus resolution models in order to control and position environmental sustainability and conservation behaviours-free: banning fossil fuel and  Green-House-Gas(GHG)emission burning;

¡¤         Established an Intergovernmental Environmental Community(IEC) consultative engagement network forum to share, exchange and formulate green living tolerance and relevance methods, ideas and skills;

¡¤         Established an incentive and impunity system for residential inhabitants are/and not practicing environmental conservation and sustainability norms.

However, in these means, a stern call was ed unto the private sector and sub underpinning key institutions to collaborate and assist in aligning measures. In the sense, Socio- government frameworks and strategies have been adopted and exercised. This includes green living practices and environmental cleaning days being undertaken and performed to promote and uplift green projects, programs and plans.
