The Aral Sea |

The Aral Sea used to be one of the most ancient lakes around the globe. The sea has dropped by 16 metres and the water has become too salty. The climate has been affected and changed this land into desert. Many scientists, National Geographic summed up the situation best by saying: ‘It has never happened within the time frame of a single generation, the disappearance of such a large body of water.’ It is truly said that the disappearance of such a large body was not predicted by anyone. Furthermore, the Aral Sea was damaged, and because of its sequences, the Karakalpakstan is suffering from high temperatures and droughts. The Aral Sea became a worldwide issue. The consequences range from climate feedbacks to public health issues, affecting the lives of millions of people in and out of the region. The Aral Sea area was a region with a wide variety of flora and fauna, 38 species of fish and a number of rare species of animals inhabited the Aral Sea basins, the number of saigas reached 1 million heads, the floristic composition comprised 638 species of higher plants. The sea also served as a climate-adjusting reservoir and mitigated the sharp weather fluctuations throughout the region, which had a favorable effect on the living conditions of the population, agricultural production and the ecological situation. In order to strengthen mutual understanding and trust among all the countries of Central Asia and to establish openness and transparency in relations. In conclusion, I would like to make all read and conclude how the basic sea harms to whole our Universe!? |

Thank you for your report about what??s going on in the Aral sea. The pictures you attached really surprised me. The changes in only 30 years are so dramatic and I??m so worried about how this change would affect people living around the Aral sea. Also, I feel so pitiful that we might lose the home of various flora and fauna.

Hi Variza,
In this report, you've talked about the Aral Sea and it is frustrating to see that the Aral Sea has lost so much water as time passes by. With the loss of water, I can see agriculture around the Aral Sea Region is heavily affected as well. Your report is indeed informative and helpful. Thus, I would like to ask you to keep writing great reports and tell us more about your country. :)
