World Meterological Day

by Kushal Naharki | 25-03-2019 16:03 recommendations 0

On the morning of 23rd March, my junior sister form my college shard me her experience. She said,¡± Today morning, my mother called me and told me, "kaafal pakyo, khana aaija (Berry has ripen. Come home to eat)". I was a bit shocked. I asked how the berries ripen so fast. I mean, they should ripe in the mid of April or late April. I said to my mother, "Isn't it faster?". My mother replied nothing. Then, I ended the call. However, I asked my mom, we all know that it happened due to climate change.¡±

We are witnessing the severe impacts of climate change throughout the world. Increasing global temperature, melting of glaciers and mountain snow packs, the Polar ice cap, jutting off of the great ice shield of Antarctica, resulting in rising sea levels are the major seen effects of climate change. America is suffering through discomfort due to freezing temperatures and Australia is suffering through freakish scorching heat waves. Don't feel relieved. Its not America, Australia or Antarctica. You are also going to face the effects of climate change. No magic is going to save us from the discomfort to come in future days until we take an action by our self.

World Meteorological Day takes place every year on 23 March and commemorates the coming into force on 23 March 1950 of the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization. It showcases the essential contribution of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to the safety and wellbeing of society and is celebrated with activities around the world.  The themes chosen for World Meteorological Day reflect topical weather, climate or water-related issues.

On the Occasion of World Meterological Day NYCA, Dang organized one day training on agriculture, pesticides and climate with the participation from students, farmers and local governance representation at Lamahi, Dang on March 23rd with the discussion of impacts of meteorology on the agriculture of the nation.

    Hello Kushal!

Thank you for sharing your sister??s witness of climate changes. I really do agree that the impacts of climate changes are reaching every part of the world. In Korea, even though it is in the mid-latitude temperature zone, tropical fruits cultivation has been started since a few years ago. We shouldn??t wait for some kind of magic to save us from this change. The climate changes made weather more unpredictable and that??s why meteorology is getting more and more important. Thank you for your wonderful report and reminding us this important day.

    Hello kushal dai
It??s a noticeable change yet we are compelled just to pretend because we are lacking to control it, how much we are trying to.
Thank you so much for this report.

    Hi Partner,

Your junior sister was right in saying that the season are moving faster, the shock of my peach trees at home ripening quickly was also shocking. Climate change has been the cause of major natural events as you have mentioned in your report and it may get better of worse depending on how swift we mitigate the issue.

I commend the WMO for organising this event for you guys, it truely showcases their mandate for youth awareness through training of impacts of meteorology on agriculture.

Thank you for reporting and take care of yourself okay )
    Warms regards,
    Rosa
