PLEDGE FOR LIFE - A CAMPAIGN BY NATURE BODIES-


The project is to  critically build one voice-can we together help protect the area we live in .With increasing growth in human population there is an increasing pressure on Biological Resources to fulfill basic as well as superfluous needs of humans.Increasingly,high consumption lifestyles in urban areas have led to the exploitation of natural resources. This project has a strong focus to maintain plentiful of forest, abundant wildlife, many underneath natural resources intact for its survival and to relieve stress. Through our campaign we are able to solve the problem.

objective:

1)      This project envisages to proactively generate awareness and sensitivity in students, youth, teachers and communities of practices on the rich biodiversity in CHHATTISGARH.

2)      To encourage and build responsible behavior to protect, conserve, nurture and sustainably use bio resources for the present and future generations.

3)      To change the habits of students about low carbon lifestyles.

4)      To adopt the concept of cool calculator in their daily life.

 

RESEARCH:

Our campaign pledge for life is a leading campaign in the whole Chhattisgarh. We take pledges by moving different places like villages, schools, public places and slums area people spreading the awareness to save biodiversity.

Firstly, we made a team of 50 students, then 50 students divided into 10 groups each group contains 5 members. We move to different schools at assemble time and explain them the importance of biodiversity and how to conserve our biodiversity in the school surrounding. Those students who take interest or initiative we give them pledge copy and they also collect pledge in their individual manner in these way our campaign multiply and go on very easily and we reached 1,73,411 students and took their pledges as well as we completed our  first phase.

In the second phase of our campaign we reached individual to the people and we insisted them to take initiative and aware more people as much as possible about the conservation of biodiversity. To inspire more people we moved to busy squares, exhibition area, utsav fair and markets, shopping malls etc. In these ways we covered total 39,890 pledges. In these way the total no. of pledges by adding both is 2, 13,301. In parallel we also had taken hand print in different observation days like World Earth Day, World Environment Day, World Biodiversity Day and World Ozone Day total no. of hand prints is 28,800.

During our campaign we covered the different district of Chhattisgarh namely Bilaspur, Mu-

ngli, Kawardha, janjgir, Champa, Raigarh, Korba, Surajpur, Ambikapur, Rajnanadgaon, Durg, Raipur, Bhilai, Jagdalpur, koriya, Pakhanjur, Bastar, Sarguja

PROJECT ACTION PLAN

1)      Different stakeholders have been actively engaged and have take pledges in all Indian Languages, much in the form of a signature, a statement, an event or handprints.

2)      Different people have used different methods some have used used pledge sheet formats, others have given hand prints(positive actions, tool to measure sustainable

Development) on cloth or paper and some have planted trees realizing the need to behave responsibly.

 

3)      We start with 50 schools with 150 master trainer (youth leaders)

50 schools * 150 youth trainer = 7500 schools

2 teachers * 7500 schools        = 15000 teachers

300 students * 7500 schools   = 225000

Therefore 2,265000 teachers and students (Direct) and 10,000,000 communities of practice (Indirect)

4)      Our team are visiting schools—institutions—colleges, where in each school around 200-250 students are exposed and explained the need of conservation, protection and sustainably use biodiversity.

5)      Pledges have been taken from people across different socio economic stratas, age groups, gender and set of society.

6)      H?nable Chief Ministers of states of INDIA ,Elected members of Parliament, professionals like doctors and army officials, lawyers Govt employees have all participated  along with students, youth and teachers.

7)      The project will also harness and convert all the good practices of the schools and colleges into quantified verified emissions reduction to conserve biodiversity.


RESULTS -

1) H?nable Chief Ministers of states of INDIA ,Elected members of Parliament , officials, lawyers, Govt employees have all participated  along with students, youth and teachers.

2 ) 2, 13,301 people given their pledges.

3)   The main output of the project is to inculcate a sense of responsibility amongst the youth to take responsible actions and adopt a lifestyle to conserve the biodiversity.

4)   It will help in developing a more authentic database of good actions which can later be considered to be monetized for biodiversity trading. It will help in developing a more authentic database of good actions.
