Saturday, September 7 2013, on collaboration with Biology and Biology Education Student Assocation in my university (State Islamic University of Yogyakarta, Indonesia) I presented a students discuss titled ?Youth Movement for Climate Change?. Took place in student auditorium Faculty of Science and Technology, we have conversation about climate change and youth movement. Also, youth movement role in mitigation and adaptation efforts for climate change.

 Attended by 95 students from Biology and Biology Education department, we started the forum with movie screening ?An Inconvenient Truth?. From the movie, we tried to raise the issue and students awareness about climate change. Took the knowledge and the values from the movie to stimulate the discussion.

The World?s Youth 2013 Data Sheet, released by Population Reference Bureau showed that youth population ages 10-24 in the world is 1,809.6 millions or 25% of total human population. A huge number for youth population which we never imagine. Huge number that will create a better world if we can manage it – in this case is to face climate change threat. But also, huge number that will going for nothing if we don?t care about it.

Depart from thoughtfulness about youth awareness in climate change, as young people we wanna to ignite youth movement in climate change issue through this discussion. With knowing about climate change, how to adapt and to mitigate it, we want to spark youth movement begin from our self, make strong foundation with self commitment. Start small big idea, started with small discussion we hope we can spread the value to each other, to people who around us.

In this discuss forum, we also tried to raise bioconservation and climate change education issues that related with the course in our department, Biology and Biology Education, as our efforts in Climate Change adaptation and mitigation. Bioconservation and climate change education based on local wisdom, where increase local people role in climate change adaptation and mitigation. With the result that, they can build local community with global influence in eco-local wisdom to face climate change. Certainly, to make it comes true, youth movement is needed as educate people movement to support eco local wisdom in local community with global influence.

The last, again youth movement for climate change now is needed. As a conclusion, to ignite it we should remember ?start small for big idea?. Start to build commitment in each young personality is important. We can spark youth movement in school, society and everywhere we are to face climate change threat. We are who live in the future, if not us, so who.
