Our world is increasingly getting torn apart by strife and intolerance. Thus 21^st September which is celebrated as the International Day of Peace takes on added significance in the context of the current global situation. We, children and youth, have a defining role to play in paving the way towards a peaceful world since the future belongs to us. Peace is an essential ingredient for sustainable development and civil society and its stakeholders must never give up its demand for it.

Green Hope UAE has always stood for peace and tolerance and marked this day with a workshop in the morning where members expressed their views through art. Our members collated these messages in a video which we shared through the social media. Tree planting is at the core of all our activities and we firmly believe that a green step is the most effective in the drive towards peace.

We, alongwith our sponsors and partners , Al Tamimi Engineeringand Radisson Blu Residence took part in Goumbook?s ?Give a Ghaf? campaign and planted 120 Ghaf tree seeds which we had pledged a few months ago. Our group of more than 40 participants spent the morning sorting the seeds , replanting some pots , and planting the seeds we had pledged. The event was held at the Greenworks nursery in Al Barrari who not only assisted in the planting but also took us around the sprawling facility with its unique array of plants from all over the world including an awesome ?olive tree? garden which had trees as old as a thousand years. Despite the heat, this green effort organized by Goumbook really made us all feel that we had taken a meaningful step on this momentous day.

We shared the message that peace is a treasure which should be cherished.
