[Book review] A Nepali novel about natural calamities and suffering, EK Cihan

Hello guys I am Sachin Regmi, an environment campaigner. This is a thematic report for the month of June.

Ek Cihan translates in English as 'A dead body' is a tale of a family struggling due to poverty combating against natural disaster. This is an epic story which reminds there is no one stronger than mother earth and she deserves a respect. Moreover, the novel reminds us how miserable our life will be post disaster. This is a classic novel by Hridaya Chandra Singh Pradhan and has a supreme place in Nepal diaspora. The book is an evidence of local impact due to global problem.

    Hi Sachin,

The title 'A dead body' itself shows how serious this book is regarding the natural disasters. Due to the global warming and climate change, the power and gravity of natural disasters such as tornadoes, typhoons get stronger than before, and in fact many people on this earth are heavily affected by them. With this report read, it reminds me how it is important to save our environment and protect it from damaging anymore. I enjoyed reading your report.

    Dear Sachin,

Couldn't agree with you more that there is nothing stronger than mother Earth.
Natural disasters are occuring more frequently because of the environmental damange that humans are imposing on the Earth, which is a really saddening fact.
Thank you for your recommendation! You are doing great!

    Hello Sachin

Thank you for sharing your book review. You are right. We must realize the weakness of humans compared to the nature. Natural disasters often cause extensive damage and can ruin everything that human built in a few hours. Though this book is a novel, what the author is trying to tell us holds true. Keep up the good work!

    Hey there Sachin.

This book is indeed most interesting and does spell out that with mother nature, everything thrives, but without her...we too are nothing. I cannot related with the countless of survivors of a natural disaster but I appreciate that Hridaya Chandra Singh Pradhan has taken all life stories of those who have gone through the most and placed it beautifully in this book.

Thank you for informing us about this Sachin...I am now intrigued and would like to read it.

I look forward to more of your work!

    With gratitude!
    Rosa

    Hello Sachin bro

I do hope you are well and doing well with your works.
Thank you for your report about the book EK Chihan. I had first red the book in class 10 and again at the college as part of Nepali subject course. This is a wonderful book dealing with the nepali community situation along with the calamities twist at the end.

    Keep writing reports.
    Green Cheers :)
