Here, I would like to share that today is World Batik Day. May be some of you know, what is Batik. Batik is Indonesia traditional cloth that made using a manual wax-resist dyeing technique. Actually on October 2 2009, UNESCO designated Indonesian Batik as a Masterpiece Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, the day where we commemorate as Batik day now.
If we talk about Indonesian Batik, we will learn about it patterns. Batik has many patterns. But, most of it is take from the theme of universe. Also, take from everyday lifes, incorporating patterns such flowers, nature, animals, folklore or people.
Talk about Indonesian Batik, there are many types of Batik. Most of it considered by the region where Batik is from. Because Indonesia has many regions with difference in culture and natural resources - including biodiversity, this affects the Batik patterns.
What we can take from learn about Indonesian Batik?. The first value is human has life with the nature long time ago until now, so we should live together with the nature in harmony. The second is Indonesian Batik patterns has message that we should keep and manage the nature around us through our local wisdom for it sustainabilities. We have the future, but future is choises. Live in harmony with the nature, or never see the great earth and human living again on the next time. So, lets take the value of Indonesian batik patterns to save our nature and biodiversity through eco-local wisdom.
