National Paddy Day

by Kushal Naharki | 01-07-2019 20:56 recommendations 0

The National Paddy Day, celebrated on Asar 15th of every Nepali year, marks the official beginning of the paddy plantation across the country. The main motto of this year¡¯s National Paddy Day is the promotion of technology and machinery to reduce rice import.

A total of 1.55 million hectares of land is utilized for paddy plantation across the country. However, paddy has been planted below around 200,000 hectares of land till the date. Due to late and weak monsoon this year, the paddy plantation is lower than 6 per cent till date this year compared to same period last year. The late and weak monsoon would affect the paddy plantation and yield this year, officials said.running race

IAAS Nepal Local Committee Lamjung amazingly and mud-splashingly celebrated the 16th National Rice Day with the ever enthusiastic students of Lamjung campus with fun games and treasure hunt. As agriculture student we are glad on keeping the tradition alive and enjoying Ashar 15 as much as farmers do.treasure hunt

    Hello Kushal

Thank you for sharing how you have celebrated the national paddy day. This year's national paddy day is especially meaningful as it aims to reduce dependency on imported agricultural products. Also, I am worried that changes in monsoon might affect paddy plantation and yields. Keep up the good work!

    Hey there Kushal!

I trust you are well today :) It is scary to know that climate chnage has affected even the monsoon's arrivals times, thus affecting the paddy plantation. I am glad you mentioned this to us and also showing us how you guys commemorated National Rice Day! Well done!

Thank you for sharing this article piece with us,
    With gratitude,
    Rosa
