[Feature] Did you know? : "Eco Running" in Benin, sport for the environment.

by Desire HOUNGNIGBE | 02-07-2019 00:00 recommendations 0

September 15th of each year is dedicated to World Clean Up Day.  On this occasion, Sandra Idossou, the young Beninese eco-activist, and her partners proceed to the collection of plastic waste in the city of Cotonou. It is through the Eco-running initiative that it implements with the fitness club ¡°Flex Fitness¡±, as well as several partners. This initiative had its third edition in September 2018. It is a project that mobilizes every year more than a hundred participants cross the main roads of the city of Cotonou to rid them of plastic waste such as plastic bag, plastic bottles of water and others. In September 2018, a total of one tonne and 264 kilograms of plastic bags were collected.

The goal of such an initiative is to push people to stop throwing plastic bags on the streets. Reaching that goal requires the involvement of all  Beninese.

    Hello Desire

Thank you for the report on 'Eco running' in Benin.
As this event is in partnership with fitness club, it can both promote the healthy lifestyle and raise the awareness of plastic bags on the street. I wish more Beninese participate in the eco-running on September 15th of this year!

    Hey there Desire,

I trust you are well this morning! The initiative put forward by Sandra and her team is absolutely amazing and could not have come at a more strategic moment in our generation. pollution, of any form, is not tolerable and we should push in our efforts to ensure that we beat it, not just for our future generation, but for the restoration of mother Earth.

Thank you for sharing this amazing story with us Desire!
    With gratitude,
    Rosa
