[Free Report] Do you know the ¡°Ministère du Cadre de Vie et du Développement Durable¡± in Bénin and how are they trying to raise awareness about sustainable development in Benin¡¯s secondary schools?

by Desire HOUNGNIGBE | 10-07-2019 00:54 recommendations 2

To be in the same line with the Sustainable Development Goals, the president of our country(Benin) came up with a new ministry. This ministry is called the ¡°Ministère du Cadre de Vie et du Développement Durable¡±; in English, ¡°Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development.¡±

The mission of this ministry is to develop and ensure the implementation as well as the monitoring and evaluation of the State's policies and strategies on the environment, climate change management, reforestation, protection of resources natural and forest ecosystems, preservation of urban planning ecosystems, protection of banks and coasts, sanitation, housing, construction, land and estates, cartography, cadastre, geomatics and land use planning.

The ministry always supports a lot of initiatives related to the environment, for example, the Eco-Running. In May 2019, they launched with the support of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO), the ¡°Concours Scolaire sur les Changements Climatiques(CSCC)¡± in English,  ¡°School Contest on Climate Change.¡± The objective of the contest is to help secondary school¡¯s students in Benin to be aware of sustainable development and how they can contribute to fighting climate change in Benin.
We are still waiting for the results of the contest and the final round that will be held at the National Television of Benin between the best 12 Beninese secondary students who passed the first round successfully.

The minister of this department is called Mr. Jose TONATO.
