Children Empowerment

by Kushal Naharki | 05-08-2019 12:01 recommendations 1

The theme of the year 2019 is Children and youth can bring us a sustainable future together. Data reports there are 1.6 million children working as back breaking labor in Nepal which is the worst scenario in South Asia main cause being the poverty and lack of social security. Children are working heavily almost 19 hours a day with lower wages and for food. Although 'Kamlari pratha' has been abolished from Nepal, another form of same system still prevails i.e domestic child labor.

We can see them being used to sell water bottles at streets or kept as domestic helper carrying loads and washing dishes i.e. children are found employed. Child slavery is a crime against humanity. Humanity itself is at stake. Every child, whether it's yours or mine, rich or poor is the same. Then, why is it that the poor children have to lose their childhood because of poverty?

Every child deserves to get educated and live his childhood. We all know how important is education for children so that they can contribute to the sustainable future.

I believe we should give the light of knowledge and opportunity for all.

During my visit to home during my holidays, met a girl who didn¡¯t go to the school. She didn¡¯t have her parents and used to live with the maternal grandparents. Immediately a thought ran into my mind, Children are the future of the nation. If they don¡¯t get proper education, how can they work for the achieving the sustainable environment. Then, I gifted her Tunza Pencils and Sticky Notepad and convinced her grandparent that she should be sent to school and feel glad that she has been sent to school now.

Together We Can Bring the Change and Children and youth should work together bring us a sustainable future.

    Hello
I think children empowerment also included protection of children against sexual exploitation which is shocking, given the utter lack of awareness in the society at grassroots level. POCSO Act can also do as much. we need to give priority to this issue and educate the society about this, especially where there are more chances of the commission of these crimes.

    interesting post. keep writing

    Hello Kushal

Exploitation of children is one of the most serious social problems in the world. It's heart- rending to hear that children who deserve an education are working heavily almost 19 hours a day with lower wages. Access to education is the key to ending poverty and child labor. I hope the girl you met is using the notes and pencils in the school now. : )

    Hello Kushal Brother,

You are doing just astonishing job. I see a smile on her face as she is so innocent. Yeah, in Nepal many children below 10 are employed for labours in hotels, factories and other pity activities. But the good part is that slowly this trend is decreasing in Nepal.

    Thanks for this share.

    Cheers!!!!

    Hello,
Thankyou for the report. The problem of child labour is still there at many places that blurs the image of bright future of a nation. We can collectively work for it and spread education to them, which is our responsibility.
