Hi fellow Eco warriors!
I noticed that there was sort of a vacuum when it came to environmental activism - some entire communities were being ignored. It's not that these communities are not environmentally aware, it's just that the news cycle prefers activism from white or white adjacent individuals. Africans, for example, are largely ignored in the environmental debate. This is terrible because the African continent will bear the brunt of the consequences of climate change and global warming even though the continent contributed the least to the crisis. There are plenty of African environmental activists, but they barely get any coverage. Additionally, environmental news from Africa barely gets the covered with the seriousness it deserves. Due to this, I decided to start covering environmental news from Africa myself. For several months now, I have been highlighting various environmental challenges that African countries face. I have covered topics such as the climate crisis, wildlife conservation, drought, cyclones Kenneth and Idai, plastic bans, antibiotic contamination of rivers, malaria, eating insects, and floating villages, amongst others. I have learnt a lot from my coverage of these issues, and I will continue to cover environmental news in Africa.

Hey Yvonne.
I had read report on Saturday but did not quite have the time to respond on it. I do agree with what you mentioned in your report in that our news in our stories most of the time does get sidelined. But I really do think that it should never stop us to give our news from our continent because we are of our continent. And I'm so glad that you're one of the people who pushes for that notion to be done and I support you all the way in that Endeavor.
Thank you for this realistic and thought-provoking report.
With gratitude,
Rosa

Hi Yvonne,
As not many people actually wrote about environments in Africa, zillions of thanks to you that you actually talked about Africa in your report. In fact, we all know that Africa is renowned for its biodiversity and beautiful natural landscape. I hope these can be protected appropriately as they are assets of Africa!

Hello Yvonne
It's certainly a huge problem that environmental activities in Africa don't get enough attention of the world that they deserve. At the same time, I want to thank you for covering environmental issues that Africa is facing now so that we can be more aware of them.
Keep up the good work! : )
