Nepali Youth at Guthi in collaboration with Student Council of SchEMs (SCOS) with support from School of Environment Science And Management and Tunza Eco Generation organized Rainwater Harvesting Poster Competition on 4 October, 2013 to evaluate the effectiveness of One Day Workshop on Rainwater Harvesting and Poster Making on 2 August 2013.
The competition saw 6 best posters developed on the theme of Rainwater harvesting 15 participants in group of 3 and 4 individuals participated in the competition. Every participant had their own messages and was successful in conveying their messages through their beautiful posters.
Describing her poster Smriti Sharma says, 'Just by harvesting rainwater in household level, the time can be saved especially of women as they don't have to go far place for fetching water.' Her poster tried to convey that rainwater harvesting can substantially reduce the time of women in collecting water and she can utilize her time in various other household works.
Ananda Dungana said, ?Rain is a nature and it?s a free gift.? He through his poster tries to convey that collecting rainwater is collecting the money without any extra effort.
'If we use rainwater, we ultimately avoid the use of groundwater to certain extent thus avoiding over extraction of groundwater.' Raj Prasai explained RWH as a medium to halt the exceeding underground water extraction.
Bimala Gurung in her winning poster conveyed that ?RWH is the best alternative to solve water scarcity problem in all level whether it is in a household or in an agricultural level?.
Anil Sthapit, director of Guthi and one of the judge of the competition, congratulated the participants and the organizers for the successful turn out of the event. He also added, ?RWH should also be implemented in practical basis and even youth should be involved in such activities.'
'It is good effort to encourage participants. It definitely boost up their confidence and enhance their capability to participate in the bigger platform' said another judge Prakash Amatya Regional Communication Coordinator at FANSA.
Khimananda Sharma, President of SCOS shared, ' It is the first rainwater harvesting poster competition he has organized and looks forward to organize such event in the future as well.'
The winners were felicitated with certificates and token of appreciation from the organizers. Bimala Gurung bagged the first position, while Smriti Sharma and Team of Raj Prasai, Ananda Dhungana secured their second and third position respectively. It indeed was one successful event. Raj Prasai described the gifts from Tunza Eco Generation as the best gift ever received, ' we are working for environment and this eco friendly gifts despite its size is the greatest gift I have ever received,'he said.

finally you shared the report. Yes it was indeed a good program, first of its kind at SchEMS, you guys have started the new chapter of exploring ones idea at SchEMS and of course I expect to see a lot more in coming days.
The confidence I saw in you guys has really made me jealous and proud at the same time. Each word that you felt you guys have shared through your posters, good job guys, I loved idea of each one of you.
Bimala clearly was the winner with her most attractive poster-one of the key component along the concept.
