[Thematic report] Youth and Environment

by Sachin Regmi | 21-09-2019 23:47 recommendations 0

We are youths, the power to change and inevitable force to transform the way society works. What makes youths the change maker, trendsetter? Of course, the energy level, craze to do something better. The amalgam of youth force environment issues is perfect recipe for contribution to future. Let¡¯s explore the subject further.

Let me tell you a story I have closely observed over years in my community. There is a local organization called ¡°Better Chitwan¡±. The members are youths which are mostly college students. They have been putting serious efforts on environment conservation. The programme I like most was gardening around roads. The places which are usually ignored are converted to gardens with beautiful flower. This task has not only created a sense of responsibility among civilians but also created a window from where youths can be seen clearly. This is an example of true youth engagement in environmental efforts.

Youths must work for environment conservation because there is not much time to work seriously on this issue. Now or never is the motto of youth environment conservationist. Various youth platforms including tunza eco generation itself are working actively in this field. Social media handles of youths are serving the purpose. Youths are working for the better tomorrow, better.

    Hello Sachin!
Some say youths are too young to change the society, but they have huge power and sense of challenge to make better future. You provided a good example of how youths can bring change to local community. As many youths should be aware of the environmental issues and start actions to stop them. Fortunately, we've still got time to stop it, even though it may be the last chance. I believe collaborative actions of youths and other generations can make difference!
Thank you for the great report!

Thanks for sharing the story in your community. I think that this youth organization of 'Better Chitwan' is definitely a leading green actor in your region! The changes they make I think are not only meaningful itself, but I also believe that they give motivations and inspirations to people around them as well!
