India water week

Conceptualized as a forum for generating public awareness and discussions to strategize conservation and optimum usage of water resources in India, India water week marks as its sixth instalment for the forum. To bring upon new ideas for mutual cooperation for sustainable water management, the Ministry of Jal Shakti (Water Resources) is aptly organizing the India Water Week-2019. The conference is attended by national and international delegates that gather to focus on the need and importance of water use across all sectors. Currently ongoing in the national capital, the President of India Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the event with the theme ¡®Water cooperation-coping with 21st-century challenge'.

The goal of the conference is to discuss the multi-faceted and complex issues of water resources. India water week consists of several opportunities for people to engage in. The event consists of sessions on ¡®Improvement and Innovation in Reuse and Recycle Practices and Technologies¡¯ and ¡®Micro Irrigation for Improved Agricultural Economy,¡¯ panel discussions on ¡®Technological Innovation and Big Data for Water Security, Emerging Directions and Prospects¡¯and ¡®Challenges in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals for Urban Water Supply and Drainage¡¯ and brainstorming sessions on ¡®Addressing the Ever Increasing Legal Complexities in Water Development and Management¡¯ and ¡®Focused Role of Federal Government in Ensuring Sustainable Water Resources Development.¡¯ The conference has actively engaged in discussing today¡¯s greatest challenges being faced by environmental technologist, that is to develop greener and cheaper wastewater treatment system. The event discusses upon how to tackle high fluorides in groundwater, reliable, safe drinking water supplies, presenting study envisages assessment of river water quality and possible sources of outcomes of pollution, etc.

This year¡¯s India water week also discussed about ¡®National Mission for Clean Ganga¡¯, a vital project that entails strategies of maintaining an un-polluted river Ganges. The Indian president also emphasized on the importance of a collective effort not just from the part of the government. An important point the president raised is to urge citizens to reduce their ¡®water foot printing¡¯, a term similar to carbon foot printing.

Encompassing all water problems throughout the country, the India water week talks about not just about solutions but legitimate actions. As India gets more committed to water sustainability, more common and active participation of people is needed in the India water week conference.

    Hi Ishitwa!

It seems that there were pretty much productive discussions in water week India.
I believe that the engineers of India have more than enough potential to treat the issue.
Probably the most important thing is, as the Indian president mentioned, the active participation of Indian citizens.

Thank you for the great report! It was very informative.
