Rally for Mass Awareness against Rabies

by Bal krishna Pandey | 04-10-2019 13:33 recommendations 0

28 September 2019
It was my great experience to participate in Rabies Awareness Rally, on the date of World Rabies Day celebrated globally with the theme rabies vaccinate to eliminate .

Awareness rally was held at Bharatpur, chitwan in which different organizations were collaborated.also street act drama was presented at Chaubiskothi, Chitwan to create awareness among public about Rabies.

Rabies is an infectious viral disease that is almost always fatal following the onset of clinical symptoms. In up to 99% of cases, domestic dogs are responsible for rabies virus transmission to humans. Yet, rabies can affect both domestic and wild animals. It is spread to people through bites or scratches, usually via saliva.

Rabies is present on all continents, except Antarctica, with over 95% of human deaths occurring in the Asia and Africa regions.

Rabies is one of the neglected tropical diseases that predominantly affects poor and vulnerable populations who live in remote rural locations. Although effective human vaccines and immunoglobulins exist for rabies, they are not readily available or accessible to those in need.

Every year, more than 29 million people worldwide receive a post-bite vaccination. This is estimated to prevent hundreds of thousands of rabies deaths annually.

I would like to thank everyone to all organizations I joined in the vaccination camp. We made the program grand successful. I would like togive specialthanksto these following organizations:

  • Veterinary Hospital and Livestock Service Expert Center, Chiwan
  • Nepal Veterinary Students¡¯ Association - Rampur
  • Nepal Veterinary Students¡¯ Association - NPI

    Hello Bal Krishna!

The power of the vaccines can??t be described by words. The problem is there are still people who are not informed about the necessity of being vaccinated. Various programs like rally will eventually make rabies-eradicated society.

Thank you for the great report!
