Free report : Plastic Roads

by Bal krishna Pandey | 13-10-2019 01:25 recommendations 0

Simply,
Plastic road is creation of roads from recycled plastic.

Main objective:-
-To reduce the plastic waste-bags,bottles from environment
-To improve economy

In today's world;
    There is rapid increase in popn which in turn increases solid waste such as plastic.
  As plastic is non-biodegradable; Use of waste plastic for pavement is one of the most appropriate alternative to the valley's growing plastic pollution.

Materials used in construction of plastic Road  are:- Aggregate, Bitumen and waste plastic.
   waste plastic when added to hot aggregate(aggregate heated at 170(oc) ) form a fine coat of plastic over the aggregate and such aggregate when mixed with the binder(bitumen) form polymer-bitumen-aggregate mixture which give higher Strength,higher resistance to water and better performance over a period of time.

Advantages:-
-Roads blacktopped with plastic have higher load bearing capacity, are water resistant and durable.
-Reduce the need of bitumen(coaltar) by around 10% and so improve economy.
-Increased binding and better bonding of plastic coated aggregate and bitumen mixture.
-Development of technology which is eco-friendly.

Despite of these advantages, we have some challenges as well;
After few years of road construction,polymers start to breakdown into little and little pieces. And In monsoon, the rain will carry away those particles into other sources and the source gets toxicated. If the rain cannot carry it to other Places,then the paricles enters slowly into soil and again it destroys land.

To conclude,
       Use of  plastics for pavement is one of the best methods for easy disposal of waste plastics.Also,the durability of roads laid out with shredded plastic is much more compared with roads with bitumen with ordinary mix. It is hoped that, In near future, we will have strong, durable and eco-friendly roads which will relieve the earth from all types of plastic.

    Hello Bal!

    Didn't know there was such a creative way of recycling plastics!
    It looks a good way of dealing with plastics wastes.

    However, I'm little concerned about the fact that it can cause secondary environmental problems.
    I believe that improved construction technology might solve the problem.

    Thank you for the informative report!

    Hey Bal,
    greetings from your mentor!

    I have never heard of such a road before!!!
    I think it's amazing and thanks for explaining to us about it in detail.
    Regarding the limits and weaknesses, I am pretty sure that there are some innovative technologies being developed to resolve them. We should all look up for more information! Or maybe you could continue on writing your free monthly report of November involving the efforts to overcome the limits of the plastic road!

    And for the picture, it is awesome!
    Did you take it yourself?
    If not, please leave the citation:)
    Never forget to credit the author when using their work!
