Recently, the concern for alternative sources of energy that can be renewed and their use being environmental friendly have increased greatly. The search for sustainable renewable energy has drawn global attention. The need for renewable energy was triggered as the current sources of energy, coal and oil are not renewable, thereby resulting in depletion of these sources. Also, pollution results from the extraction and use of these energy sources. It is a well known fact that as human beings, we depend greatly on energy. Everything we need to do today depends on energy which coal and oil have been our major sources of energy. Hence, there is need for a green and renewable source of energy. It is very important to discuss a State that has really been running on and enjoying the potentials of renewable energy - Massachusetts. Massachusetts is a State in the United State of America that has been making use of Wind and Solar energy. In fact, the Government is planning that the state runs completely on renewable energy. Due to the ecological and geographical advantages the state has, it has been exploring the potentials of wind and solar energy. However, despite the potentials of wind energy in the sate, its dependence on solar energy is greater. This is due to the limitations of wind energy. These limitations therefore have revealed the advantages of Solar energy over wind energy as listed below. 1. Wind energy depends greatly on geographical and ecological location of the area. Wind energy is best used in coastal regions, offshore areas and ridge crests in mountains. 2. Wind Energy lacks constancy in its power generation. Unlike, solar energy, it does not generate certain amount of energy, making it erratic. 3. From literature review, it has been discovered that energy produced from solar panels is more than the produced from wind turbines. Researches and implementation of alternative sources of energy such as Bio-mass, Geothermal, Wind, Solar etc., have been carried out. Currently, solar energy has been the most used source of renewable energy. However, while there are ongoing researches on other sources, wind, geothermal energy sources have been implemented. |

Hi Israel,
Well written report about the implementation of the renewable energy in Massachusetts and some limitations in applying wind as energy source.
I think Massachusetts can be a good role model to many cities that wishes to transform to eco friendly city. Up to now, solar and wind energy is the two major renewable energy sources being used. Advance in technology might improve the efficiency of renewable energy.
Thank you for the great report.
Keep up the good work.

Hello Israel!
It's Lisa your mentor:)
I would first like to thank you for the great article.
I didn't know that Massachusetts is a leading community involving renewable energy!!!
It's always interesting to find out new information:)
And yes, for Korea as well I think that solar energy has the most vision in it due to the similar reasons that you have stated as the limitations of the wind energy.
Especially regarding the physical limitation, states like Korea with the small territory will have difficulty generating enough energy to sustain its status quo using wind.
Yet, as you know solar energy also has its limits and weakness. Technological innovation and the changes in recognition are needed in order for solar energy to settle in our society and resolve the energy problem. Hoping for a brighter future though!
Thanks for the great article.
Nice work:)
