Rooftop farming training and conference in Kathmandu |
---|
Realizing the unavailability of farming and vegetables gardens in the overpopulated Kathmandu city the local governmental body has launched a program which helps to promote and flourish the rooftop farming. The office officials as well as other expert are training different household members, mostly women to share the proper technique of it. It has planned to train altogether 500 household for this current fiscal year. They are selecting representative from each area and are given training and expecting that that trainer will be sharing their experiences and expertise to other locality members. The budget for this program is $20,000. Also the donors are providing them extra $ 30,000. They are planning to spend half amount on training and capacity building activities and half on the distribution of the compost bin. The conference which will last for four day will start on December 9 and end at December 13. The program is likely to address the problem of scarcity of farming land and the expensive vegetables and fruits as well. |

@Pratap Thank you for your comment. Especially, I love my small herb garden. I took herbs from the rooftop garden whenever I need spices for cook. Buying herbs in department store is really expensive(As it is regarded as a fancy foodstuff) but I don't need to spend much money on herbs thanks to the rooftop garden :-)

@christy good to know that you are also doing rooftop faring, opinion like yours is important for Sabin and the other officials who are going to aware and train people on rooftop farming, sabin just note Christy's voice..it will certainly help you in some programs you organize on rooftop farming.

Thanks for sharing, Sabin. Actually I have a rooftop garden in my house.
I love it, the result of it is really super.
I don't have to go to a supermarket for daily vegetables also I don't have to worry about pesticide on food at all.
I do recommend it if the house is stable enough to endure the weight of the rooftop garden.
