Diversity means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences. Genetic diversity is the total number of genetic characteristics in the genetic makeup of a species. Genetic diversity plays an very important role for the preservation of the genetic resources. For A Sustainable Future For Genetic Resources, following points should be taken into consideration: 1. Improve Policy and legal frameworks 2. Integrate genetic resources and biodiversity into the development agenda and strength conservation and sustainable use 3. Facilitate access to genetic resources and their related knowledge Threats to Diversity includes: 1. Climate Change 2. Loss of natural habitats 3. Environmental Degradation 4. Effects of increasing population pressure 5. Change in consumer demand 6. Development and use of a few species, varieties and breeds Mainstreaming biodiversity for sustainable agriculture and food security can be done through: 1. Multisectoral approaches 2. Mainstreaming in National Programmes 3. Land use planning at community and watershed levels 4. Supporting on farm management 5. Networks, Participatory Assessment, Monitoring and Early warning systems 6. Information Systems 7. Training and education 8. Raising Awareness |

Genetic diversity is something that is essentially to be preserved. Reason behind this necessity is the balance in the eco system. Regional eco system is consist of variety of living things and each of them takes pretty important role. However unfortunately these days it doesn't seem to be preserved as it should be. This will eventually result in the destruction of balance and the whole system will be affected. There exist plenty of ways to resolve the problems mentioned in the article. Human society should take special care to each threat to the genetic diversity.

Genetic diversity is definitely a topic that we cannot forget involving environmental matters. Thanks for suggesting some specifics about the diversity. I really like how you have tried to analyze the problem not only through the environmental framework but also considering other factors such as consumerism and economic development. It's always critical to view social problems in multi-aspects, and on multi-layers!
As a person of an economics major, I am personally interested in how capitalism affects the preferences and choices made by individual consumers and how that affects the diversity of the environment. I believe it's really worth take-noting that the economy manipulates our taste to be more diverse and narrow at the same time. The mass production provides us with multiple choices yet at the same time the trend that the economy induces us all to end up making the same consumption at the same time.
