Hi everyone! My name is Lisa Zaretskaya. I would like to draw your attention to my report related to the topic of Problems of ecology and linguistics. My mother is a Professor of linguistics. She told me that all the new phenomena of life are reflected in language. And the system of all world languages can be represented in the form of a tree. All languages are like a huge tree! For example, the Oxford Word of the Year is a word or expression shown through usage evidence to reflect the ethos, mood, or preoccupations of the passing year, and have lasting potential as a term of cultural significance. The Oxford Word of the Year 2019 is a climate emergency. This year, heightened public awareness of climate science and the myriad implications for communities around the world has generated enormous debate on environmental issues. The research reveals a demonstrable escalation in the language people are using to articulate information and ideas concerning the climate. This is most clearly encapsulated by the rise of climate emergency in 2019. Language choice in scientific reporting on climate science has been influential in this shift during 2019. The dictionary notes that other climate-related phrases were shortlisted in 2019. Among them - climate action ("fight against climate change"), climate crisis, climate denial, and others. Earlier, the word of the Year 2019 was presented by the Collins English Dictionary. The Collins English Dictionary Word of the Year 2019 is a climate strike. Swedish schoolgirl Greta Thunberg contributed to the popularization of this phrase. Thank you for your attention.

Hello Lisa,
This is your mentor Lisa:)
I really like how you chose the topic that seems irrelevant to environmental issues yet very closely related.
Linguistics is definitely one of my field of interest and as I have learnt it, languages evolve in the way we think, behave and speak. Climate and environmental issues are very discursive these days and I can see that it is being reflected in the language that we use.
Thanks for the insightful article and I really enjoyed reading it!
Keep up the green work dear:)

Hello Lisa
Thank you the introduction about the interesting concept.
I can see from your report that the climate change is right in front of our face is a serious threat to the planet. Choosing those words will make many people get aware of the situation and there is higher possibility in leading to the change in life style. I hope no more words like those come up again as the word of the year.
Thank you for the great report.
