Tunza in Orphanage with promotional goods |

Today, I have a story of some children who are called homeless and street people. But I will call them as an exceptional children whose talent will be the reason for the nation to become proud in the days to come. They had their own home, own parents but were abandoned for no reason and their home became street, paved streets became bed, leftovers were their food, well ventilated clothes were their uniform and their job was to beg money from the people in the street. In this situation, to imagine about education would be the biggest joke for them. How have the life of an innocent children become? Some children were victimized by drug addiction. How miserable and troublesome the scenario became to look around! But there's hope because there is a government and also very kind people in the society. Governmental and non-governmental bodies have been establishing various organizations, orphanages and aashram for those victimized children. When it's night time, police capture those children in the street and take them to the orphanage. In orphanage there's place available for numbers of children which is looked over by several staffs. Some cooked food, some washes clothes, while some provide training to those children like PT and sports training. For the children who are addicted, they are admitted to the rehabilitation centre for treatment. After the children behave normal, they are kept under supervision and those who show interest towards learning are sent to government school for education. As a Tunza ambassador or let me call as a human being I planned to do something among those children. Most of the times we arranged programme for the school children and distribute promotional goods among them; it's nice but it would be more nicer if we perform it among those children who are deprived of education and can't enjoy much when comes about different kinds of materialistic goods. As I had a platform of Tunza along with wonderful promotional goods sent by Tunza Eco Generation, why not among children of the orphanage and I planned a small programme among those small children. I consulted my school teacher Mrs Radha Rasaili, I have my huge thanks towards her for her immense support. She helped me by arranging volunteers for me throughout the programme. Volunteers were vibrant students who were studying in the same school where she teaches. One of the volunteer was a winner of Junk Art Competition which I have arranged to conduct previously and another volunteer was a youth vlogger who had been making vlog of orphanages in every visit for good works. We visited orphanage at 11 pm on Sunday. We were quite unfortunate that day since we were unaware of the fact that some of the children had already been to School that day. Nevertheless we arranged to conduct a programme among 10 children out of 19 and among some of the staffs of orphanages. Orphanage accommodating total 19 children was well maintained by the staffs and children themselves. Orphanage was looked after by governmental and non-governmental bodies. Police were made incharged of the orphanage. At first we had a short introduction session in individual basis and then I introduced Tunza and it's activities among them. Then I distributed some blank paper to them and made them to write their name and write the things that they performed to maintain clean environment. However many of the children were away from formal education due to poor finance. Still, arrangement of their primary education was made in the orphanage where staffs of the orphanage teaches them basic alphabets from A_Z, nepali letters and numbers. We arranged to conduct a programme among 10 children out of 19 since rest children were visiting school for education. Since most of the students couldn't write more than their name we made them to write on the paper their name and express their activities on paper by drawing pictures. I provided them with 5 minutes first and additional 5 minutes to wrap up. Then they described what they have prepared on paper. They prepared drawing and certain paper work by using Tunza pencil. They presented their contents in the paper in front of everyone. Then I handovered some promotional goods like ruler, sticky pad, pen, leaflets and card to the staff of orphanage and requested him to distribute it among those children. He distributed those goods among them and I also provided him extra promotional goods for the children who were absent there. I described them about Tunza by showing and describing leaflets and also about promotional goods. They were very excited throughout. I taught them about various environment conservation and presentation facts and day to day activities to preserve environment like using water in proper way, maintaining clean environment and hygiene, turning of electrical appliances after it's use. In the end, we had few photos and packed up the programme with the promise to visit there again with more promising programme. A brief of our programme is presented in the vlog prepared by one of the emerging youth activists Mr. Saurab Kunwar. He is constantly working among for the upliftment of those orphan children. To do something for the children in the orphanage is my dream which had become successful due to Tunza Eco Generation and many other helping hands. I am indebted towards everyone.

Hello Asmita
What a great program you conducted! You probably provided those children unforgettable experience in their lives, and at the same time motivated them to work hard for the environment and for themselves.
It's really good to using those Tunza goods in great programs, and I look forward to seeing another great program that can inspire the local community.
Keep up with the great work!

Hey Asmita!
this is Lisa.
I feel like you are a true social innovator you have been engaging in many different social problems that are not necessarily limited to the topic of the environment.
I am glad that Tunza goods could help in your work in an orphanage.
Although environment education has been considered as a priority in the environmental agendas, it is true that those educations have been accessible to very limited groups of people and most of the time, the disenfranchised were neglected in conversation.
I think your work is contributing to solving this problem!
Really inspiring and motivational:)
Nice job!
