(Monthly event) Environmental issues in Films and Books

Hey everyone, fellow ambassadors, mentors and friends

I¡¯m sure we all watch movies.  I am a movie lover. Sometimes, movies have great morals and inspire us to change for the better.  Nevertheless, movies or short films are definitely fun to watch.

For this month¡¯s topic, I will be listing the top 3 environmental movies.  I¡¯m sure most of these movies or short films will have a significant impact on you.

1.¡¯Save us¡¯ (LIK Entertainment)
This short film follows the story of a boy who wakes up in an unknown place, only to find and discover some horrible truths.  Even though this short film is only 5 minutes long,  it expresses a lot without words.

2. ¡®Man¡¯ (Steve Cutts)

This short film is a simple animation which potrays the relationship of humans with nature.  This short film is humorous too while encouraging us to think about our fellow nature.

3. Avatar (Directed by James Cameroon)
I am sure you all have heard of the movie Avatar. Avatar is the one of many films that address the major environmental issues of today¡¯s world, one which happens to be about sustainability.

Avatar demonstrates the results of overusing natural resources and thus forcing humans to continue to destroy other areas of nature for sources of energy. Since there is no longer energy on Earth, the only option is to seek out energy from a natural habitat where indigenous Na¡¯vis have been living for years. In addition, since there is no energy, Earth is not able to sustain organic life.

¡®Avatar¡¯ asks us all to be warriors for the earth,¡±

regards
Arjun Anand

    Hey Arjun!
    This is your mentor Lisa.

Among many of the pieces that you have recommended, it seems that Avatar is the single one that I'm familiar with!
Thanks for all these nice lists of things that I could watch over the upcoming new year's holidays :)

Meanwhile, I cannot agree more to the last sentence that you have put, the movie Avatar does make our passion for the environment to burn up!! We often forget how beautiful nature is, being surrounded by the forests of buildings in the middle of the city. Avatar does awaken our forgotten true-selves, as a part of nature.

    Thanks for some great recommendations:)
