Religious area and plastic pollution

by Bal krishna Pandey | 21-01-2020 17:00 recommendations 3

We eco tunza ambassador are never off duty. It is our responsibility to make awareness about environmental pollution and its effects.
So I along with my travel mates organize a short pollution awareness and cleaniness program at a templeside on the dated of 17 january, 2019 at Dailekh district of Karnali Province, Nepal.
The temple mentioned in the photoes below is Shreesthan mandir, Dailekh. Actually this program was not well planned and organized. When we were exploring the region, we heard about the temple and knew that there is natural burning flame from decades that is ablaze at a time. It was adventure and fun to visit there at the lap of hills, forest and rivers but the worrying thing is plastic pollution even in remote part of the district too. Plastics were left at the area of temple may be by pilgrims and visitors.
After seeing this, we immediately decided to make the temple area clean and plastic free as well as make aware to the elder people who take care of the temple. We four people collected trash scattered and collected in a distbin. And discussed with the people about minimization of plastic pollution around the temple area.

It was a fruitful moment to visit the temple and make plastic free.

    Hello Bal krishna

I'm impressed by the another great program from you. I partially understand that those people in the temple don't realize the seriousness of the pollution created by those plastic wastes. Your program therefore seemed to play big role, since it made them aware of the issue. It's really great to see your environmental actions, and keep up with the great works!

Really a nice program. Plastics take at least 400 years to decompose. Plastic pollution is damaging our ecosystem. Thanks for fruitful program.
    Happy living!!

Absolutely agree with your report. Your cleanliness drive around temple deserves applause. Temples are such pious areas. Environment around it should be clean and pollution free.

    Hey Bal,
    it's Lisa.

I think this is something that we have to really think about.
Keeping tradition is important but it has to be done in a sustainable way.
These people who visit the temples for religious purposes, if they harm the environment while they engage in such a meaningful practice, would be very paradoxical I believe!
I think you have suggested a great example by cleaning up the environment yourself.
I hope that a sustainable religious culture can be made!

    Great report:)
