Kriel, a town located intra the Mpumalanga province has had its way up the international arena the past year.

Being dependent on the background of coal mining and hosting one the nations power station, a heavy presence of air pollution can generally be observed evidently be observed. A smog of heavy fuliginous dark-grey skies are present aswel.

The ramifications posed to such are the air quality and conditions elements which are particulars existing: Sulphur being utmost main effect and deterrent of all.

Kriel suggests positions as a town which authorities have identified as a disaster risk area and that drastic actions sought required be considered and undertaken in order to ensure a valuable and viable progress towards tolerance and relevance for climate change and global warming.

In a series of attempt to limit the scourge, the [national] government of the South Africa sub national treasury, have issued a new system: The Carbon tax, inorder to combat such-one imposing impunities to firm and other corporates, which pose threat ad instability towards the environment.

    Hello Xolani

I can see that the situation in the town is quite serious. Partially, I think that the pollution caused in the town is inevitable since the source of the pollution, which is mining, is their main economical background. This kind of situation is where innovative technology should be implemented to both preserve the environment and make the people able to keep making the living. I look forward to hear some good new from the town.

Thank you for the great report!

    Hey Xolani!
    It's Lisa once again.

I hope the conditions in the town get better soon. But at the same time, I think this case portrays well a situation where sometimes, environmental pollution is not the result of luxurious brutality. Choosing to develop coal mining was never really an option for the people that live there nor the country. It's more of doing what they could do in a given situation making the best out of it for economic development. In such cases, instead of criminalizing the people, it should be that innovative technologies are provided as a form of international assistance and aid.

Thank you for writing about a topic that's worth discussing!
