It has been a trend in the hip-hop genre to sing about riches and women, but David Andrew Burd popularly known as Lil Dicky had another thought in rapping music. In 2019 Lil Dicky defies the odds when he released a song titled ‘Earth’ which was about the environment. The earth song was released three days before the Earth Day in order for people to take action on the environment. The Earth song featured many singers and people with influence. The actors and singers included Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Kevin Hart, Wiz Khalifa, Charlie Puth, Katy Perry and Leonardo DiCaprio. The coming up with many people of influence was to deliver a powerful message that would reach people belonging to different groups. If you want to reach out to more music is the instrument, “Music is the universal language of mankind.” -Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Unpacking the lyrical content of the song which was packed in a funny but powerful message manner. The harm we are doing to our planet was expressed in form of animals and plants we are not caring about when we undertake certain activities. “But these days, it's like we don't know how to act, All these shootings, pollution, we under attack on ourselves” It expressed how our actions are hurting our mother Earth. In lyrics he mentioned that people are not believing global warming is real they think the earth will live forever. Lyrics- “'m not going to lie to you I mean, there's so many people out here who don't think Global Warming's a real thing You know? We gotta save this planet.” The video on YouTube has over 200 million views and the proceeds from the video were donated for charity and helping in the environmental issues. The song was made to raise awareness about the environment, pollution and climate change. Burd stated that a portion of the song's proceeds are being donated to a variety of environmental charities according to Wikipedia. “Where words fail, music speaks.”- Hans Christian Andersen that was shown by Lil Dicky that we have to do something for our Earth. I read well about the article that deals with a famous rapper. 200 million views testify that many people are interested in taking care of the earth that we are living. Thank you for a report about an artist, Lil Dicky. I'm a great fan of hip-hop music, but I didn't know that there is an artist who sang about environment protection!
