Thematic Report: Chemical Product that affects the environment negatively

by Okoth Okoth | 10-04-2020 00:47 recommendations 0

Health experts have warned us repeatedly on the devastating effects of lead poisoning. Nevertheless, people still purchase and use lead products. Manufacturing companies wear bold faces when manufacturing lead products thereby adamantly ignoring the grave dangers and risks their employees and customers are put in.

This is a topic which have been exhausted and will still be exhausted unless various policy makers, governments, world health agencies and all stakeholders act upon it.

Regardless of age, race or class, lead affects our health equally. Our bodies absorb equally high level of lead through breath as compared to swallowing. The lead accumulates into our bones causing bone problems. Consequently, short term exposure to high levels of lead causes;

  • Abdominal pain
  • Constipation
  • Headache
  • Irritation
  • Loss of appetite
  • Memory loss and Weakness

Lead  is known to cause placental barrier anong pregnant women thereby exposing the unborn to lead effects including damage to the developing baby¡¯s nervous system. Moreover,  exposing babies to low-level lead have been found to affect their behavior and intelligence. Consequently, lead exposure can lead to miscarriage, stillbirths, and infertility in both children and adult.

Therefore, it is our duty to ensure that the unborn and the born are kept safe from the devastative effects of lead through using lead free products such as leaded fuels and teaching everyone the effects of lead poisoning.

    Hello Okoth, this is mentor Taehyun.

    Thank you for the report about a chemical product. Lead is a very toxic chemical element! In the past, lead is used for circuit assembling, because of its low melting point. But, once many diseases related to lead discovered, people started to reduce lead. But, lead is now remaining in nature because of the old product or other product using the lead, and that can cause accumulation of lead. So, we have to be careful with new chemical substances!

    Thank you for the report!

    Green cheers!

    Hi Okoth Okoth, this is a mentor Sang Su Lee.

    Thank you for introducing some gruesome effects of lead on the environment and humans. If you introduce some ways that leads are used in our society, this article would be better. Some people might not know why do we use leads and why people are still purchasing leads even though they are poisonous. Anyhow, thank you for sharing a good information about lead!

    Cheers!
