The Philippines is known as the "typhoon country," having an average of 20 typhoons hitting the country every year. But now, due to disruptions in weather patterns, the country now experiences more than 20 and about 5 of them are super typhoons. Today, Super Typhoon Haiyan, named Yolanda in the Philippines, is expected to make landfall in the central part of the Philippines.
Super Typhoon Haiyan is said to be the world's most powerful typhoon this year. With center winds of 215 kph (133 mph) and gusts of up to 250 kph, the storm is rated category five. This is the fifth in the world to be rated in this category for this year as well as being the strongest of the group. Even in the satellite photos, one can clearly observe that the storm is as large as the Philippines.
Typhoon Bopha (Pablo) is also a category 5 typhoon that hit the central and southern part of the Philippines December of last year. Disaster preparation has now been of great attention by the local government units throughout the country. Residents in vulnerable areas that would be hot by the typhoon are evacuated days before the storm would reach the land. The leaves of the coconut trees were also cut to prevent them from being blown off by the strong winds and the crops were harvested early. With all these preparations, there is one thing that is left, to wait for the storm to pass.
Let us pray for the Philippines and the other countries that typhoon Haiyan ravages.

I just researched for the Philippines typhoons. Reports say that people should expect more typhoons caused by global warming and that will be the new normal. I was sorry to hear this and wanted to help them. Let's pray!
