Environmental Issues in Illinois, U.S.A. |
---|
The state of Illinois is the fifth most populous state of the United States; however, in March 2011, Illinois ranked as the bottom seven worst in the American State litter scorecard, and have faced serious environmental issues. The on-going statewide issues are: 1. Implementing the Chicago Climate Action Plan's Clean and Renewable Energy goals. 2. Advancing renewable energy and efficiency 3. Improving air quality 4. Cleaning up the Chicago River 5. Advancing High speed rail 6. Advancing the market for the electric cars 7. Protecting Lake Michigan

I am S. Spacek, author of the American State Litter Scorecard and the above seven issues posted by Alberta Yoo are NOT part of the Scorecard!
The Scorecard's listed issues for illinois are as follows:
1. Poor State Highway Maintainance (removing trash/debris from roads and expressways)
2. Ultra high rate of Public Servant Corruption Convictions
3. A Top Five State for Fatal Debris-caused Vehicle Collisions (over 35 persons die across the Land of Lincoln each year )
4. Every man, woman and child each throws aways higher than national average amounts of Daily Wastes
5. No Container Deposits (Bottle Bill), No Comprehensive Recycling yet passed.
