( Free Report): volunteering in animal caring

by Alan Portocarrero | 09-08-2020 11:21 recommendations 1

Today, on Sunday, August 8th I had the go to volunteer in an extraordinary NGO called YARA Iquitos. This is an organization created and led by youth, aiming to better the Amazonian society in aspects, such as, environment, education, animal care, gender equality and human rights. Then, this time I have been involved  in animal caring.

During this lockdown, we are not the only one who are facing challenges, the homeless pets too. Most of the time, society forgets this issue, and I strongly consider this is an important deal also. Mainly, because to take care about animals is caring for nature. On the other hand, it benefits to our health, for example,  ¡°For several decades there was a prevailing view that they provided health benefits such as increased psychological well-being and could even make people live longe¡±1(BBC,2015).  Then, pets are beneficial for human well being. So it is such a vital part of our lives, as Roger Caras says ¡°Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole¡±. A significant percentage of individuals, in some societies, are not conscious regarding this subject at all, however. Consequently, there are going to be still amounts of homeless pets out there, with no food and sadly being treated inhumane. Unfortunately, with this pandemic the problem increased due to the thoughts of spreading and getting  COVID19 through dogs and cats, as a result, many family abandoned their pets. Notwithstanding, NGO, groups of changemakers or volunteers, who are infatuated with animals, in any event, they stand up for them.

In this volunteering activity, I joined to YARA Iquitos to stand up for the homeless pets, then I worked with all my effort to feed those wonderful being.

Arriving to the Event.

When I arrived to the solidarity campaign, an organizing meeting was set to explain to the new volunteers the plan to be executed. So,  I payed attention   to all the details explained by the organizer, so that I can give my best shot.

Activities I was give:

1.       Making green feeding pets dispensers.

Alongside with  a partner I was instructed to make green feeding pets dispensers. Materials I needed were: plastic bottles, plastic tubes, and scissors.

2.       Feeding homeless pets.. Ree

After making dispensers, I was asked to walk the streets around and try to find cats and dogs to feed them, with pet foods donated previously.

To be honest, I ended up so pleased for  participating in this cause.
