(Thematic Monthly Report ) - Environement and Me

by Sagar Koirala | 15-08-2020 13:43 recommendations 0

Finally, its gonna be my final thematic monthly report. This six-month tenure has been one of the most remarkable journeys and I want to thank Eco Generation, mentors, fellow ambassadors, members, and every eco-activist out there for motivating me and inspiring me to take more and more steps for conserving our mother Earth. Furthermore, I want to thank every single member of the Eco Generation for helping me grow significantly not only in writing but also inspiring to help save our world.

The environment has evolved as a kind of favorite topic for me in recent years. Besides, Sustainable Development Goals, Youth Empowerment, and Agriculture, it is the only topic I have given my time and efforts and hope to give more in days to come. My Journey with Environment came from my early days. I have always been passionate about plants and nature, most probably due to the influence of my parents who have always been eco-warrior and environment lovers. At home, I used to draw a picture of natural beauties and often wondered what it would be like to explore all those nature and biodiversity. As an active founder of District Child Club in Morang, I once organized a cleanliness program on my pilotage. I must have been around 11 years old at the time and had not thought about its importance in the bigger picture, but I felt happiness and content deep inside. This year, I planted around 25 plants on my birthday and plan to make an even bigger number in upcoming birthdays.

Since then, I have indulged myself in the environment then and again. Numerous Plantation Programs, few cleanliness programs, motivating youths to contribute to environment had been my leisure time table in my hometown Biratnagar. After joining the Undergraduate degree in Agriculture, my passion for the environment increased significantly. I coordinated the Cleanliness and Plantation program as ASLF president in my college. I have been deeply influenced by Greta Thunberg and her movement. I coordinated Itahari Climate Strike and conducted Pokhara Climate Strike with the likes of local and national personalities and played a small part in pressurizing concerned authority to act responsibly for environment. My team conducted a mapping of plant biomass required in constructing Bio-briquette in Eastern Nepal with the view of promoting it as a green fuel. I gave many presentations on Global Goal with special emphasis on Goal No-2, Zero Hunger, and Goal No-13, Climate Change with the view to inspire them to play their role for the achievement of Agenda 2030. Motivating many youngsters to pursue their journey in the environment has been my new passion. Many of my brainchild concepts and organizations, which I founded and mentored have not only made a national but global impact. It gives me immense pleasure to say that I played a significant part in the eco-journey of a few eco-heroes.

Tunza has also inspired me to pursue a few eco-initiatives in the past few months. Recently, I conducted an Adopt a Plant campaign along with Mr. Balkrishna Pandey and Susma Thapa. Furthermore, Aspiring Conservation Among Youth through Experience sharing of the Experts is my new event with Miss Aarati Khatri. We interviewed around 14 environments and climate activists and are publishing their journey in several Tunza platforms. I want to mobilize youngsters for conserving our planet and play my part as well. My journey would not have been possible due to the continuous guidance of Miss Bindu Bhandari, Mr. Sujan Adhikari, Miss Pramisha Thapaliya, Miss Dibya Bhatta,Mr Ghanshyam Bhattarai, Mr. Sachin Regmi, and Mr. Balkrishna Pandey. They have been my supporting pillar throughout my journey. Similarly, my eco- journey would not have been so fruitful without the support and motivation of fellow eco-heroes, Mr. Kushal Naharki, Miss Asmita Gaire, Miss Shreya KC, Mr. Umesh Balal Magar, Miss Sandhya Adhikari, Miss Meena Pandey,Mr Ashish Lamichhane, Miss Aarati Khatri, Mr. Sandesh Thapa, Miss Kalyani Shrestha, Mr. Basanta Pandey, Miss Dikshya Subedi, Miss Sushma Thapa, Miss Sudha Bhandari, Miss Sonika Pariyar and many more.
