Day 07: How is rabies prevented? |

Day 7 27/09/2020 ¡°Friday¡± Though today is the final day of ¡°#anonlineawarenesscampaign; the awareness from our level would never stop till there is zero rabies. How is rabies prevented? 1. Rabies is a vaccine-preventable viral disease which occurs in more than 150 countries and territories. 2. Dogs are the main source of human rabies deaths, contributing up to 99% of all rabies transmissions to humans. Rabies elimination is feasible through vaccination of dogs and prevention of dog bites. 3. Vaccinate dogs and cats against rabies as required by law. All dogs and cats more than four months of age must be vaccinated against rabies. Keep vaccinations current at all times. 4. Roaming pets are more likely to have been exposed to rabies than those supervised by their owners. 5. Because pets can get rabies from wildlife and then could spread it to humans, preventing rabies in pets is also an important step in preventing human rabies cases. 6. If you do come into contact with a rabid animal, rabies in humans is 100% preventable through prompt appropriate medical care. If you are bitten, scratched, or unsure, talk to a healthcare provider about whether you need PEP. 7. The annual World Rabies Day campaign, first observed in 2007, brings together researchers and partners to accomplish these goals by mobilizing awareness and resources in support of human rabies prevention and animal rabies control around the world. Hello Asmita!
It's your SJ mentor.
Warm greetings from Korea!
Thank you for sharing your informative report with us.
Through reading your report I got to know how to prevent rabies.
I strongly agree with dogs and cats must be vaccinated against rabies regulated by law.
Also government should manage stray animals to protect their citizens.
Hope things are fine with you.
Green cheers and Keep up your great work!
Sincerely,
SJ mentor.
