Free report: Mysterious elephant deaths in Botswana |

Climate change has already targeted most of the species in ecosystem. Have you heard of the massive death of elephant in Botswana and stranded pilot whales in Botswana?
Yes, hundreds of carcasses of elephants were found. Large number of elephants were mysteriously found dead in the Botswana. Around 300 carcasses was discovered near Seronga in the Okavango Delta. It was first reported in the month of March. But the conservationist looked after it in May. In the beginning around 169 elephants were reported dead that increased tremendously in other months. The numbers of dead elephant increased after this incidence happened. Elephant suddenly died while walking. There was no poaching activities. One third of elephant population in Africa is in Botswana. So, if it's population gets reduced, it may create catastrophe. It may be the matter of public health concern too. It drew attention of several environmentalist, biologists, researchers and all the concerned authorities. The research was done in the mysterious death of those elephants. Several theories on death of elephant was ruled out. It was then found that they must have died of poisoning. The elephants were found to be consuming water from nearby pond. The pond had huge mass of algae. The blue green algae also called as cyanobacteria produces toxin which when consumed by elephant in high concentration leads to fatal poisoning case that ultimately lead to death of elephant. This algae is supposed to grow in warm climate. With the climate change and increase in temperature of Earth, the warm water in the pond favored the algae growth in very dense amount. Researchers aren't yet confirmed about the cause of death but they are making high estimation on blue green algae poisoning since after water in the pond dried during drought season, the incidence of death of elephant was found to be reduced. This incidence highly drew the attention of all the people in the world whether they are environmentalist, conservationist, biologists, researchers, veterinarians, climate activist or people in the other sectors. This incidence clearly depicts the climate change is happening and it's result is not bearable. The death of elephant is a warn to whole ecosystem, and is a warn to human to get ready for other consequences which may be targeted to human itself. I am sorry to hear about deaths of elephant.
Some species of algae can produce toxin in high concentration leads to fatal poisoning.
The elevated temperature can make algae more reproductive.
I think we must consider the lake toxicity to protect wildlife animals.

Actually, it's still under investigation; since other hypothesis on poaching, insecticides and other toxicity ruled out. Yes, if it's the final cause, the conservationist will definitely work for it

this is your mentor WooJoo.
It is sad to hear that great amount of elephants have died.
On the one hand, it makes me feel relieved that the massive death was not because of hunting or poaching, but I feel so bad thinking about their pain.
Algae are strong and resistive, so if they are the true reason for animal's death, some actions should be taken to reduce them.
If the poisoing is the main cause, then other animals are exposed in great danger too.
Were there any similar cases?
If not, I think studying and hypothesizing other possible causes are required.
