The first International day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste is celebrated dated on 29th September, 2020 by the United Nations. Various events are organized worldwide to raise awareness regarding food waste management and loss minimization. I along with Shobita Neupane and Samip Raj Poudel from Me and my SDGs launched a mega video campaign to celebrate the day. Me and my SDGs are working for the attainment of 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN.

Aiming to raise awareness about various simple techniques for food waste reduction, around 19 activists from 19 different organizations raised their voices for millions of hungry stomachs around the world. People during this pandemic are facing hand to mouth problems throughout the world. The representatives from Ypard Nepal, IAAS Nepal, Sustainable Week Kathmandu, Tunza Eco-generation, Yuwa, Nepal Youth Council, Hult Prize, Green Commando Earth, Climates Nepal, Nepalese for Climate Action, Eco Network highlight the recent scenario of food crisis and prompt need to mankind.

Beside them,Thought for Food, Sano Sansar Initiative, YES agriculture, Plant for the planet, Nepal Food Technology Students Association, 4-H Nepal, Youth for Agri welfare, and International Veterinary Students Association Nepal send  their respective message to the world. Through their video, they express the recent status, need for food preservation and shared different techniques to reduce food waste.

Every individual should inbuilt the culture of utilizing food resulting in food waste reduction. The event was useful in change people's attitude towards food is necessary to ensure zero hunger by 2030. As a program coordinator, I will like to thank representives of individual networks for their valuable contribution. My colleague and friend Mr. Kushal Naharki represented the campaign from Tunza Eco Network.

    Hello Sagar!
    It's your SJ mentor.

Thank you for introducing your campaign about Awareness of Food Loss and Waste.
Food requires a lot of resources to be grown up.
Loss and Waste of Food directly means wasting our valuables.
Individually we must minimize the amount of food wastes and consume ingredients discharging less Carbon while served at table.
I appreciate your devotion to Eco Generation.
Hope things are fine with you.

    Sincerley,
    SJ mentor.

    Hello Sagar,
    this is your mentor WooJoo.

    Warm greetings from South Korea.
Industrial agriculture causes serious destruction of forests and environment, not only by logging to gain space for massive production, but also by using machines, killing the diversity of plants, long traveling distances for transportation of food etc.
Surprisingly, most of food production is gained by small farming, not by industrial scale.
Loss of food is expected to impact human civilization most strongly, and wars could rise up.
Always preventing is the best, so I strongly support your event, and the celebration of the day.

Thank you for your contribution to Tunza community.

    Best wishes,
    WooJoo

Wasting food is also hurting the environment. ... When thrown into landfills, food waste produces a large amount of methane. As food rots and degrades, it emits these harmful gases which are 25 times more harmful than carbon dioxide in terms of trapping heat in the atmosphere.

Im glad that this post will give other awareness. Thank you for sharing
