Livestock in Zambia

by Chabala Chisenga | 10-10-2020 09:17 recommendations 0

Hello fellow environmentalists, eco generals members, visitors, brothers and sisters.

The livestock sector is worth over $1.5bn in Zambia and accounts for around 35% of agriculture production share of national gross domestic product.

The sector has experienced steady growth in recent years.

Beef and dairy products are growing around 7% and 10% annually respectively.

The poultry industry has also doubled in size over the last ten years.

Companies listed here raise, buy and sell livestock for farming and food production in Zambia.

Livestock are domesticated animals raised in an agricultural setting to produce commodities such as food, fibre and labour.

Poultry is commonly included within the meaning of 'livestock'.

Thank you for reading.

    Hello Chabala!
    It's your SJ mentor.

Thank you for sharing report about livestock in Zambia.
I can realize that livestock sector is continually growing and accounts a huge part in Zambia's GDP.
As you know breeding domestic animal needs massive natural resources such as water, plants, lands.
Also, livestock emit a lot of carbon dioxide.
Is there any solution derived from Zambia to resolve these problems?
If you have an idea can you write as a next report?
Hope things are fine with you.

    Sincerely,
    SJ mentor.

    Hello Chabala,
    this is your mentor WooJoo.

Thank you for sharing your report on livestock in Zambia.
Livestock plays a huge role in food industry and economy,
but we have to know that, compared to agriculture, it requires high amount of water for maintaining, and it produces a lot of wastes and greenhouse gases.
Since we are eco-warriers, we should take this into consideration, and try to find solutions to fight back to these problems.
I would like to know the relationship between the livestock and its impact on environment in your country too.
Please try to write bit longer next time.

I think you posted the same report twice, so please try to delete the previous one.

    Best wishes,
    WooJoo
