Hello guys, it's me- Nhu and this is my third report as an Ambassador. The topic of this report is mainly about wildlife hunting in Vietnam. Hope you guys enjoy it.
The harvest of wildlife, especially is elephant through hunting, trapping and snaring is illegal in Vietnam but remains widespread and is understood to be the major threat to many species. Clandestine activities such as trapping and snaring, which are deeply embedded in the culture and economy, are difficult to investigate and this study is the first to carry out in-depth research into the illegal capture and sale of wildlife by a major ethnic group in Vietnam. Foreign and local experts say the Agriculture Ministry's legalization of commercial exploitation of non-threatened wildlife species could pose a serious threat to the country's endangered animals and fragile ecosystems. The species that are killed mostly and illegally in Vietnam is elephant because many people of the rich believe that the ivory of elephant can trat serious illness such as cancer, etc. As a result, they dare to spent a enormous amount of money to hire hunters to hunt elephant. The Highlands in Vietnam used to be famous for elephant, there are 1500 to 2000 species of elephants were found there. However, at the moment, according to the National Geographic, there is only about 70 species. As we can infer from the data, elephants in Vietnam are being hunted dramatically instead of the laws to protecet them. Not only because of the rich, some families on Highlands feed elephants for their economic means such as circus or transporting people. Therefore, elephants usually die because of their lack of nutritions and overwork. The lack of wild life animal- elephants has an extrmely negative impact to Vietanam. |

Hello Nhu!
It's your SJ mentor.
Thank you for introducing your report about current situation in Vietnam.
I'm surprised that there are wildlife-elephants in your region.
Strong regulations for poaching is needed to preserve wildlife species such as elephants.
I suggest restoration program for elephants to protect Vietnam's ecosystem and biodiversity.
In Korea we restored Jirisan Asiatic Black Bear it would be helpful to find more information regarding increase elephant population.
Hope things are fine with you.
Sincerely,
SJ mentor.

Hello Nhu,
this is your mentor WooJoo.
Thank you for sharing your third report!
It is so sad to hear that the number of elephants decreased dramatically,
especially due to human activities and their egoism.
Similar cases are occurring worldwide, such as rhino horn, hartshorn, bile etc.
There is no scientific proof that ivory or horns can truly treat illnesses,
and I strongly believe that there are many other technological ways to treat illness other than sacrificing animals.
Also,I think fur, angora and various types of skins should not be used for our clothes or any other ornament since they can be replaced by other materials.
Sacrificing elephants for shows, tours are definitely unnecessary, and so do other zoo shows.
I hope national law is established for the prevent of illegal actions, and strongly punish those who disobey the restrictions.
Keep writing.
Regards,
WooJoo
