Rise of temperature in the hinterland regions

by Luana Allicock | 21-10-2020 03:16 recommendations 0

Guyana meaning "land of many waters". Today in Guyanas largest region, way down in the hinterland where I currently reside, is really being affected by the blazing heat of the sun.
Our savannahs where the cattle graze is being lit on fire due to the heat from the sun. Birds, snakes, lizards and grasshoppers are being burnt alive and their habitats are being destroyed. As a member of the surama junior wildlife club I gathered a few of the members that were available and we all went in search of the little birds and other animals that we could of saved. The few that were saved were brought back fed and taken care of. As a club we decided to give the animals a new home.
As for the cattle we traveled further away from the community to gather enough grass that would last for at least three days, then we will be able to continue the same routine until the grasses start to grow back. As young leaders we continue to be strong as we all battle the temperature of the sun, while looking and thinking of ways to help our animals and birds to be safe and protected. As we continue to battle with covid-19 to keep it out of our area, we continue to follow protocals that are put in place to keep us safe and secure.

    Hello Luana,
    this is your mentor WooJoo.

Thank you for sharing your report about climate issues in the hinderland regions.
It's amazing that you rescued the little animals and took care of them.
Evaporation, droughts are all big problems not only to wild animals, but to humans too.
We should find a way to save water, and stop the rise of temperature by changing our lifestyles into a eco ones.
I would like to know whicj specific type of bird and other animals are livint in this area.

    Thank you once again.
    I allreciate your effort.

    Regards,
    Woojoo

    hi.

I read something on the internet,

"Federal scientists announced Thursday that 2020 has nearly a 75% chance of being the warmest year on record for the planet Earth. ... The long-term trend of ongoing heat the planet continues to see is primarily because of the emission of greenhouse gases from the burning of fossil fuels, he said."
