Hello Tunza members, Warm Greetings from Nepal First of all I would like to wish Merry Christmas 2020 to everyone. May this Christmas bring lots of happiness and joy in your family. Count your blessings, sing your Christmas carols, open your gifts, and make a wish under the Christmas tree. May you have a Merry Christmas! Most families have a Christmas Tree (or maybe even two!) in their house for Christmas. The decorating of the tree is usually a family occasion, with everyone helping. Most villages, towns and cities are decorated with Christmas lights over Christmas. Often a famous person switches them on. Every year they get bigger and better. Thousands of people go to watch the big 'switch on' around the beginning of November. Children believe that Santa Claus leaves presents and gifts in stockings or pillow-cases. These are normally hung up by the fire or by the children's beds on Christmas Eve. Children sometimes leave out mince pies and brandy for Father Christmas to eat and drink when he visits them. Now, it's often a non-alcoholic drink that's left because Santa has to drive his sleigh.Children write letters to Father Christmas/Santa listing their requests, but sometimes instead of putting them in the post, the letters are tossed into the fireplace. The draught carries the letters up the chimney and Father Christmas/Santa reads the smoke. Usually the main Christmas Meal is usually eaten at lunchtime or early afternoon on Christmas Day. It's normally roast turkey, roast vegetables and 'all the trimmings' which means vegetables like carrots & peas, stuffing and sometimes bacon and sausages. It's often served with cranberry sauce and bread sauce. Traditionally, and before turkey was available, roast beef or goose was the main Christmas meal. One vegetable that is often at Christmas is brussel sprouts. But however with the span of time and health consciousness, people are shifting to Vegeterian diets. In my country Christmas is celebrated widely by large number of population. |

Hello Sagar!
It's your SJ mentor.
I hope you doing well.
Although it was late, I hope you had a happy Christmas.
Due to the spread of the COVID-19, there were few Christmas events in 2020.
In Korea, people eat out a lot during the Christmas holidays and the end of the year.
It is interesting gathering at home and eat traditional meals.
Thank you for introducing various cultures and do your best in 2021.
Happy New year!
Best regards,
SJ mentor.

Hello Sagar,
this is your mentor WooJoo.
Warm greetings from South Korea.
It is bit late, but I wish you late Merry Christmas and happy holidays too!
It is nice to learn about different holiday traditions of different countries,
and I am surprised by detailed explanations such as traditional meals.
I am bit sad to think that too much energy, trees, decorations are being wasted in the end of the year, and hopefully we can replace these ornaments by recyclable things.
Happy New Year! :)
Regards,
WooJoo
