---|
by Bal krishna Pandey | 31-12-2020 00:00 0 |
The environment is a broad subject that deals with natural, cultural and social systems, economic and human activities and their components, and the interactions and interrelationships between them. In the current context, the major environmental problems are air pollution, water and soil pollution, climate change, environmental destruction as well as man-made environmental problems. The solution to these problems needs to be controlled and regulated with criteria. Here are some listed regulations and ongoing campaigns followed by local bodies and states of Nepal Government for the conservation of environment and agriculture. ¡¤ Kathmandu Metropolitan City has made it mandatory to plant at least two trees while passing the plan of the new house to be built. Even residential houses that have been completed so far will have to plant two trees in front of the house within two years if possible and at least five pots on the roof if possible. ¡¤ A Himalayan village will plant a tree and give five kg of rice in the coming fiscal year. The village municipality has emphasized on forest protection campaign by presenting policy and program in the village assembly for the fiscal year 2076/77 (B.S.). The village municipality chairperson has launched a forest conservation campaign and has given a policy of giving five kg of rice per tree. ¡¤ Dhulikhel Municipality has adopted a policy of planting 'one house, two trees'. The municipality has been providing assistance. ¡¤ To make Karnali (the largest state in terms of area), the state government has given the slogan 'Increase in Organic Farming, Prosperity of Karnali'. To realize this, Karnali Organic Agriculture Special Program has been planned to increase organic production and productivity. ¡¤ Two provinces (Gandaki and Lumbini) have started implementing the concept of smart agriculture in their policies and budgets. Under the smart agriculture system, while acknowledging the new reality of climate change, emphasis is laid on the integrated use of the latest technology by modifying the agricultural system. Climate smart technology is a technology that helps combat and adapt to the negative effects of climate change, reduce greenhouse gas emissions as a major cause of climate change, and contribute to food security by increasing crop and livestock production and productivity. |

Hello Bal!
It's your SJ mentor.
Warm greetings from Korea!
Thank you for introducing Nepal's environmental regulations and activities.
The environment is complex and extensive because various things are involved.
However, it directly affects humans.
It is surprising that the government is pushing ahead with tree planting.
South Korea also restored bare mountains in the 1960s.
But now it is hard to find land to plant trees.
I would like to consider ways to plant trees in Korea by referring to the case of Nepal.
Happy New year!
Best regards,
SJ mentor.

Hello Bal,
this is your mentor WooJoo.
Warm greetings from South Korea.
Thank you for sharing your report regarding environmental regulations in Nepal.
It is necessary to force regulations in order to set a limit, and control the nature since the industrialization and all other human activities have grown so fast.
I am glad to get to learn about different environmental activities that Nepal is trying,
and I think they are wonderful.
I specially like the policy of planting one house, two trees!
Hopefully we can achieve the goals soon.
Happy New Year! :)
Regards,
WooJoo
