Dear all,
Hope you are doing well. I would like to share with you interesting facts to know about the plants, and hope you will find them useful. Whenever we think about the greenery, we immediately remember what we see on a daily basis, which are trees and flowers, yet can't imagine how many different types of plants exist as well as we eat! According to statistics, an average size tree can provide enough wood to make 170,100 pencils. Also, Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on the planet (SoftSchool.com). There are over 1,500 species of bamboo that are native to Asia, Australia, and other parts of the world. This tall thin plant can grow 91 meters every day. That's amazing, isn't it? Would you believe if I said tulips were equal to gold? In the 1600s, many types of Tulips were introduced, while people considered its bulbs worth gold. However, as everything has its end, this notion was ruined almost after 3 decades. As I have mentioned above, would like to draw your attention on plants. For instance, carrots used to be purple, not orange or yellow. The orange carrots we eat today were a genetic mutation. Also over 100 billion bananas are consumed annually, can you imagine how much is that?! Whenever you look at the strawberry, there are small holes on it but would you ever think that these are the seeds? Strawberries are the only fruits which have in and outside seeds. Hope I could convey, thanks! Resources: -ww.softschool.com -https://www.goodnet.org/ |

Hello Vazira!
It's your SJ mentor.
I hope you are doing well.
Thank you for sharing interesting facts about plants.
There are so many kinds of plants in the world and it is impossible to know them all.
I've heard that bamboo is a fast-growing plant too.
But I think it grows 91centimeters a day not meters.
It's just amazing that the carrots we eat today are from mutants.
I wonder how natural mutations occurred.
Hope things are fine with you.
Keep writing!
Best regards,
SJ mentor.

Hello Vazira,
this is your mentor WooJoo.
Warm greetings from South Korea!
Thank you for sharing such an interesting report about plants.
It seems that you made a tiny mistake! I think the bamboo can grow 1 meter per day, isn't it right? :)
It is important to know that because of climate change, the bamboo forest is rising towards colder, north sides, becoming more difficutl to grow and flowering.
Many beans and corns that we eat today are also genetically modified crops, which makes them impossible to be used for cosmetics!
It is nice that you tell us many stories related to different kinds of plants,
but it would be nice if you emphasize why the plants are so important in our lives, and what are the current issues regarding these.
Keep sharing,
Regards,
WooJoo
