Global Carbon Emission and Drone Technology |

Global carbon emissions need to fall, and fast, but one of the best ways to fight them is hovering above us. Drone technology, primarily associated with film making or the military, is now being used in novel ways to combat man made climate change. Drones and deforestation Deforestation is responsible for more than 15% of net global carbon emissions (comparable to the world¡¯s entire transportation sector), making the protection of forests vital in the effort to reduce emissions. Here, again, drones are helping. Costa Rica is currently trailing a project called ¡°Deep Forest¡± which uses drones to monitor tree degradation and the impact of illegal logging. It is hoped that, by knowing more about the forest, conservation efforts will be more impactful. Drones are also helping plant trees - start up Bio Carbon has created drones that can plant as many as 100,000 trees per day and has spent years replanting the mangroves around the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar. Making urban networks green Hitachi has been conducting research into the impact of urbanisation. It is a very important topic, with more than 55% of the world¡¯s population now residing in urban areas and a lot of them are ordering packages online to be delivered to their door. An estimated 500 million deliveries are expected to be made daily in cities by 2025, yet freight transport in London, for example, was already responsible for around 38% of nitrogen oxide emissions back in 2010. |

Hello Charles!
It's your SJ mentor.
I hope you are doing well.
Thank you for writing a report on the need for drones and carbon emissions.
Attaching objective evidence that the use of drones can reduce carbon emissions than conventional methods will help understand the article.
Of course, flying drones will emit less emissions than flying helicopters, but it would be better to introduce electric trucks when it comes to delivery.
Also, if drones pass overhead in the city, safety and noise are also worrisome.
I wonder how a tree-planting drone works.
Is it right to spray seeds with drones just like spraying seeds on conventional airplanes?
Keep writing!
Best regards,
SJ mentor.

Hello Charles,
this is your mentor WooJoo.
Warm greetings from South Korea.
Thank you for sharing such an informative report dealing with carbon emission and related technology.
I agree that deforestation is one of the big causes for high carbon emission, and it is nice that our technology can be used for restroring them and taking care of them.
If we use drone, we could prevent the forest fire better, and also could use it for watering trees in very dry seasons.
I am curious about how the drones are used for planting trees; do you know how?
Every year, the portion of online market and delivery systems are increasing, so it is very important to reduce any wastes, such as paper or plastic packages, and also reduce the transportation process, which emits most of the greenhouse gases.
Please remember to include your references at the end of your reports.
Thank you :)
Regards,
WooJoo
