PPKM JAVA-BALI DUE TO COVID-19 ACTIVE CASES

Reported by: Amama Ira Amalia Priyono

The government decided to extend restrictions on the activities of the Java-Bali PPKM community because of the high number of active cases of COVID-19 in these areas. The extension starts from January 26 to February 8, 2021. The basis for this policy extension is due to the weekly increase in COVID-19 cases in 52 districts / cities. In addition, the death rate due to COVID-19 in 44 districts / cities is still increasing and the recovery of patients exposed to COVID-19 in 33 areas tends to decline.

The Minister of Home Affairs will issue PPKM extension instructions to regional heads. It is hoped that the regional head can evaluate the spike in active cases of COVID-19 in his region. As for the imposition of restrictions on community activities implemented by provinces or districts / cities that meet 4 parameters. Starting from the death rate and active cases of COVID-19 that exceed the national average, the cure rate is below the national average, to the hospital filling rate for ICU and isolation above 70 percent.

According to an observer from Padjajaran University Idil Akbar, PPKM is not effective enough in reducing the number of COVID-19. It is proven that after being implemented for almost two weeks, the number of COVID-19 in Indonesia, especially Java and Bali, is still skyrocketing. As an illustration, data on January 22, 2021, the number of COVID-19 numbers since it was first discovered until now accumulatively since the first case were 965,283 people, or close to 1 million. PPKM is looser than PSBB. Because, there are many activities that can still be carried out compared to the initial implementation of the PSBB. In fact, according to Idil, PPKM is a policy that makes people and entrepreneurs happy. Even though for health there should be no bargaining. For example, the PSBB has restrictions on vehicles or check points that see incoming permits in big cities on the island of Java. For example, in Jakarta, West Java, and even East Java. They were asked to show a letter of the results of the COVID-19 test. However, this PPKM is a free vehicle to pass by. Therefore, if you want this second PPKM to be successful, the desire or target to suppress and reduce the spread of COVID-19 must be accompanied by policies that are applied in a disciplined manner.

    Hello Amama!
    It's your SJ mentor.

    Warm greetings from Korea!
Thank you for sharing situation about the blockade caused by the COVID-19.
The situation has not been progressed by the mutant virus that is occurring in countries around the world.
The only thing that can calm the situation is the supply of vaccines, but the lack of quantity and insufficient inoculation systems are struggling.
In Korea, the spread is gradually decreasing, but it is hard to relax.
An administrative order is being issued in the Seoul metropolitan area, where more than five people cannot gather.
I hope the incident will calm down as soon as possible and return to a peaceful daily life.

    Keep sharing!

    Best regards,
    SJ mentor.

    Hello Amama,
    this is your mentor WooJoo.

    Warm greetings from South Korea!
Thank you for sharing current concerns about the activity restriction.
It is so sad that the pandemic is still striking the world,
and I am sorry that to hear that situations are not getting better even with such restrictions.
South Korea is also trying to reduce the number of case of infection by restricting people's activities and working hours.
We won't be free from the pandemic if we don't restrict ourselves, especially if situations are getting worse and mutations are being observed.
The hardness of restriction might not be effective as estimated, but everything would depend on each individual's awareness.

It seems that you got information from different external resources,
so please make sure to include the references.

    Keep writing

    Regards,
    WooJoo
