[Thematic Report] Environmental Jobs in India

by Khushi Chindaliya | 02-02-2021 04:35 recommendations 0

Growing up, I saw people in my city organizing themselves to pick up waste on the sea coast each weekend. I saw people holding informative sessions regarding the health of our environment and designing art exhibitions to creatively represent that immediate actions are crucial to protect our planet. I saw the nature club of my city protecting and preserving our local lake and its wildlife. (I have attached the picture below). I saw young people who empowered themselves through education and created companies to promote sustainable alternatives (changing our clothes to face climate change, converting plastic to grease etc).

Looking at these situations, I realized that we can bring a change if we want. Our individual actions can create a ripple effect. We can save our planet - the Mother Earth - together. I understood that collaborating our efforts can help us in bringing a change.

India being a huge and a diverse land provides various environmental job opportunities. These jobs range from the caretakers of the city who keep the city clean and take care of the plantation on the roads to environmental lawyers who fight battles each day to create a sustainable world. Innovative ideas are actually being implemented, such as carbon credit, in big urban cities. Carbon credit is a tradable certificate or permissions obtained for the right to emit one tonne of carbon dioxide or other harmful greenhouse gases. It is a monetary means to assist green companies and restrict industries that harm the environment.

I strongly believe that green innovations and their effective implementation can accelerate the process of creating a greener planet. At the same time, I think our individual actions can pool into a larger narrative (the narrative of creating a green and sustainable world).

    Thank you Mentor WooJoo! :)
I absolutely agree that we don't necessarily need professional level skills to do our part in protecting our planet. Even I became a part of a lot of the initiatives that were taking place around me and curated events to raise awareness regarding the environment crisis by actively engaging with my community.

    Hello Khushi,
    this is your mentor WooJoo.

    Warm greetings from South Korea!
Thank you for introducing us the environmental jobs in India.
As you said, and as the people you saw did, we can help the nature if we want.
I am glad that new regulations are being enacted, which seem very helpful.
Many of our Ambassadors are doing amazing jobs as eco-warriers, such as picking up the trashes in the beaches or even in the cities too.
There is no need to have professional skills to do these eco-friendly jobs, so we should try them now! :)

    Green cheers!

    Regards,
    WooJoo
