Massive Flood in Jakarta

Jakarta was faced with continuous unending rain on February 20, 2021 that resulted in floods all over the city. Previously, other parts of Indonesia experienced the same problem. Now it is Jakarta¡¯s turn to experience the flood. It is normal during the rainy season for Jakarta to experience flood. Jakarta¡¯s Governors have always tried to solve this periodic problem, but unexpectedly flood occurred again this year. Sadly the flood this year is the worst compared to other years. Areas that are usually not affected or experience flood are now flooded. My house was even blocked by areas that were flooded, which does not allow me to go anywhere outside. Luckily as well I was not out of the house when areas were flooded, because it would also mean I would not be able to get home. The deepest area to be flooded is in South Jakarta at Kemang. However, since two days have passed the flood had receded in certain area. There are many people whom have money that moved to stay at hotels.

Floods cause many effects. It is detrimental to the infrastructure and causes furniture to be ruined in which it is unable to be used further. People also have a hard time because the place they live in is submerged in water, where it is hard to find food and go to the toilet. It also causes health problem as dirty floodwater carry bacteria and other diseases.

    Hello Ida!
    It's your SJ mentor.

I hope everything will come out all right.
Thank you for writing an informative article.
I am so sorry to hear that there has been a recent flood in Jakarta.
I'm worried if you're doing well because your house is flooded and it's hard to get food.
I hope everything will be fine, and I hope the flood damage will be restored soon.
It would be good to investigate ways to prevent flooding in Jakarta and write a report.

    Green cheers!

    Best regards,
    SJ mentor.

    Hello Ida,
    this is your mentor WooJoo.

I hope you are doing well.
Thank you for sharing current concerns about flooding in Jakarta.
I am sorry to hear that recently Jakarta experienced such large flooding, and hope your family members are okay.
In South Korea, last year we experienced the longest rain season ever, which caused flooding in some areas as well.
These unusual catastrophes that are becoming more powerful and worsen, are mainly due to the climate changes, in which humans lead to, by harming the environment.
Hopefully Jakarta and its people are safe now.

    Take care

    Regards,
    WooJoo
